We're planning on taking a trip to Vero Beach over Thanksgiving with my in-laws (both families are DVC members). My in-laws have enough points to cover most of the reservation but will be a little short. We're planning on transferring the additional points they'll need from our account to theirs.
My question is how quickly do are the transfers completed? Are they instantaneous or does it take a little while? I don't want to transfer the points until my MIL can check availability on her 7 month window. (They want a beach cottage, but I'm not sure if one will be available.) I'm thinking if it is available, she can book as many nights as she can with her points, then I can call and transfer the points she needs from us and she can try to add the additional nights. Do you DVC experts out there think that's the best way to go?
