How Old Were You The Last Time You Were 'Carded'

I was in Maine with DH last week, we had been on a boat and I had on a Red Sox cap, pony tail and no makeup when we checked out at a Hannaford with a bottle of wine and some cheese. The young man at the check-out asked me for ID, and I was so so shocked that I giggled! MY DH bought the wine as I had no ID on me. Do they train the young clerks to ask middle age women for ID so they can make their day? I don't know, but my Red Sox cap and no makeup may not be such a bad 'look' after all.

I was asked at my grandmother's doctor office why I wasn't in school. She was only about 10 yrs off the mark.

I get carded all the time. Oops - that sounds bad...let me rephrase that. I get carded every time I get alcohol at a particular chain. They simply card everybody it is the store policy.

Not telling my age - but I have been legally able to drink longer than most clerks who are selling it me.

I'm 40 and have been carded in several places just this year. I kinda of feel MOST excellent about it, and also feel bad for the clerks who get a look of embarrassment and surprise on their faces... Sometimes I thank them.

Yeah that happened to me at Target.

Went to a club in San Francisco late one night that had big huge signs at the entry:
EVERY ONE MUST BE CARDED NO EXCEPTIONS
I was almost 40 so I just ignored it and went on in. My friend who had "indulged quite a bit" insisted on showing her ID - I think she was about 43. The guy looked at it, laughed and said "you're the same age as my mother". I'm not sure if she remembered it the next morning, but the rest of us made sure to tell her about it.

Well I've been carded recently, but I know it wasn't because I don't look old enough to buy alcohol. There are a lot of places here that card everybody!

Most of the liquor stores here can't even start to ring up a purchase until they swipe your driver's license so I get carded every time I go to the liquor store. There was just a big bust at the new MN Twins baseball stadium for the beer sellers. "Wally the Beerman" who has been working pro sports games for over 30 years got busted even.

Some items demand carding no matter WHAT you look like so ALL the time. Being 4'10 with dimples has caused me carding nightmares all my life, though. In my 30s it was cute, at 54 it's not a compliment anymore, it's a nuisance.

51. I don't mind if everyone gets carded, but one place has started carding just me and not my DH. I posted about it a few months ago and got flamed for complaining about it, but it still tickes me off so I no longer buy alcohol there. We ate there friday night and once again DH wasn't carded for his beer, but I just had iced tea.

This place must have forgotten that everyone in Indiana is now suppose to be carded, not just middle aged women. FWIW, I was carded before the law went into effect.

I forgot about Target. I bought a can of compressed air to clean my computers and got carded for that. DD bought some puff paint at Michael's a couple weeks ago and was "carded". Being that she was only 15 she wasn't "legal". I was shopping at the next store over and they called me to see if it was ok that DD buys this (they were making t-shirts for marching band). I missed the call but they let her buy it anyway.

I was carded for the first time in years last week, and it was not a place that cards everyone. I am 37, and it shocked me!

It was this summer and I'm 47. I think it was because I was with dd (who is 19) and I was wearing a t-shirt and shorts and it was darkish in the restaurant. We'd stopped for chips and queso and a beer for me, iced tea for her. DD burst out laughing and I think the server was mortified. I thanked her profusely, though.

That seems to be the norm at Hannaford. I was with my brother the other day while he was carded. He is 47 with a cashier of similiar age.
