I agree, I think for some items it must be a requirement.
Last weekend I was buying DayQuil at Target and got carded.
I'm 50 years old!!![]()
In Indiana, you would have to be dead.
All businesses that sell alcohol here are required by law to card for every purchase. Wouldn't matter if it was my 96yo grandmother. They have to card every time.
Take it as a compliment OP. I'm 31 and get carded and DH is 37 and gets carded. Everyone is just trying to cover their butts these days. Can't say I blame them.
And to a previous poster, YES sometimes it IS a compliment. Not ALL states and not ALL venues are required to card everyone. I know it's not like that here in NC because I have worked in a grocery store in NC. It's hit or miss. So if they decide to card me, I take it as a compliment because they weren't sure if I was over 21 or not.
I went to lunch with my 80-something parents recently and my Dad was carded when he ordered a beer. He said, "Am I too old to drink now?"![]()
