How often do you see feeds from people you actually know in social media these days?

I just realized I rarely see feeds from people I know in real life anymore. I used to really like keeping up with friends of FB but that went downhill ages ago and I stopped seeing friends and just got a bunch of random stuff so I bailed, so few people even use it anymore. Insta is going the same way it seems & while I love funny puppy videos I would rather see people I know.

Is there anything out there that prioritizes real life? Yes, it's boring but I'd rather hear about an old friend's vacation than some random influencers makeup tips.

I see a lot of feeds from people I know, though most is from politically like-minded feeds.

My only FB friends are people I know in real life, so I often see posts from friends. However, I also see posts from groups I follow, as well as random ads from companies because I was stupid enough to "click" on some other company's similar product.

I generally see posts from real life (and Facebook-only friends, who I don't see in person) daily, but I definitely have to sort through a lot of "Sponsored" garbage in the middle of those posts.

While I do see posts from friends, it's getting to be more and more influencers or random posts that I don't subscribe to that are on my feed. It is extremely annoying.

If you want to see the posts from people you know, you need to like or comment on their posts on a regular basis. Facebook and all social media control what you see with algorithms. They will only show you things that you interreact with, as interreacting with something shows you are interested in it. If you don't like or comment on your sisters post, Facebook wont show you her posts, even though she is someone you personally are very interested in. Facebook does not know you want to see your sisters posts if you just read and scroll by.

The sponsored posts you see on your feed correspond to information you have on your profile. So if you have things like your city or state or your age, or your profession or industry or your relationship status in your About Section, then you will see sponsored posts which match at least one of those pieces of information. Women who have the relationship status Engaged will see sponsored posts relating to weddings on their feed.

If you watch a funny cat video on Facebook, this tells the algorithm you are interested in funny animal videos and you will continue to see funny animal videos, as well as sponsored posts for cat food or dog food.

If you share a common interest with a few of your friends, Formula 1 Cars, then you will see suggested posts and sponsored posts relating to Formula 1 Racing.

Are you aware of "feeds"? On your phone, click the 3 lines in the top of your home page.

You'll see several choices including "feeds". Click feeds, then you'll have the option for viewing specific feeds including "friends". Click "friends" and you'll see what those you know have shared.

The feeds posts are still controlled by the algorithms I mentioned. Also, websites do remarketing, which means that when you visit some websites, they have a tracking code connected to Facebook, so that when you scroll on Facebook their posts show up.
