How often do you clean?

A whole lot less than I did before hi-speed internet became common in our homes and I discovered message boards:rotfl2:

Back when DS was young, early 90s, you could eat off my floors and would never find a dish in the sink or worry about someone stopping by because of the bathrooms.

By the time DD was in elementary school (2002 or so) I had loosened up a bit and started doing a deep cleaning once a week.

Fast forward almost 10 years and I genuinely try to keep the bathrooms clean all the time but the dusting, vacuuming and such just doesn't happen often enough:laughing:

Ummm...when people are coming over. Even then, I often wont vacuum the floor if I know my more cat-hair sensitive friends are coming over because I know it throws stuff into the air and bothers them. I blame my mom for not teaching me better. She always had cleaning ladies.

I straighten up around the house every day and it seems that I always have laundry going every day all day. I really really clean only once per week (scrubbing bathrooms etc). I just don't have time to do it otherwise with school and work and other life things.

When the kids were little I had a set schedule. Vacuuming/dusting one day, bathrooms another day, etc. Now that it's just DH and myself the house really doesn't get that dirty that fast so I just do it when I think it needs to be done.

I like keeping the family room, office, and half bath really nice looking because those are the rooms that anyone would see when they stop over. I keep them vacuumed and dusted and de-cluttered most of the time simply so I wouldn't be embarrassed if someone dropped in without calling.

The kitchen gets cleaned daily, I don't like dirty counters or dishes in the sink.

Laundry gets done whenever the basket and hamper get full. I usually only do 4-5 loads the entire week.

Bathrooms get cleaned probably twice weekly, as I keep cleaning products in all of them so it's easy to grab the bowl cleaner and swish it around, or wipe off the counters with Lysol wipes, etc.

DH's office rarely gets cleaned. :sad2: I vacuum the carpet, but he won't let me move stuff around to dust. But he's the only one that really goes in there so if he likes living with the dust bunnies, so be it. :)
