How often do resorts get refurbished?

I thought I saw a post once where there was a schedule of how often Disney refurbishes the soft goods and the hard goods in the resorts. Am I crazy and its random or is there some sort of schedule to it.

From everything I've read it's not completely random but there is no set schedule. Resorts get refurbished as needed.

Thank you. We are planning/saving for a big trip in summer of 2017 and hoping to stay at the Grand Floridian. I saw the rooms were reburbished last summer and was wondering how long it takes for things to look "tired" again. I think I am just nervous about spending so much if its not going to be super.
