I know I read somewhere on these boards but can't seem to locate this info -

How offen does mousekeeping change the bankets and bedspreads on the beds?
And does anyone request new (freshly washed) blankets or bedspreads when arriving?

Don't know about Disney but some in the hotel business have said spreads/blankets are changed out monthly. Unless of course, something happens and they need to be changed immediatly. I have heard that you can request fresh ones when you get there but don't know that for certain.

I called our resort the day before we arrived and told them my husband had a severe cat allergy and that the bedspread would need to be freshly washed. If you're concerned about it being clean as I was, go ahead and put a request in. They will gladly get it done for you.

The hotel standard is monthly for blankets and every three months for the spreads.

When I was at the CR this month my sheets were never changed. But take heart, I had a maid that had just started and she was AWFUL (couldn't even make a bed!) This is no way a bash against the CR, this could happen at ANY resort. I really did love my stay at the CR.

jeez you just missed a heck of a thread.
My DH finally made me stop reading it!
Run a search for for this thread: Dirty Bedcovers???
It should fill you in.

Great, now I'm thinking about it again........

Thanks for the info. & Stacilee I'll try searching.

The reason I asked was when we stayed at the WL several years ago, my DS broke out from the sheets. (rash all over his face, neck, arms anywhere he did not have clothing on.)
So on our last visit the WL call me a couple of days before we left and asked about my sons "allergies", and did they have to clean the carpets and drapes along with the his bedding?
HIS Bedding?????? What about OUR bedding (blankets and spreads),I just thought that the bedding was changed after each guest check out, shows how much I know!!!!!!

To think who may have been in that room before us or what they did with the blankets or spreads, & pillows. I have never thought about this till now. I think I better stop!!!!!!!!!!!!! And make a request for all new bedding upon our arrival::yes::
:earsgirl:

Wait, so they DON'T change the bedding?! I sure hope they do. Oh well, I'm so confused.

I typed in "bedcovers" under the search and clicked on "Resorts" and looked only under the title. There is a 5 page long thing on it. Just to let everyone know whose interested!

When I checked in last week, I couldn't believe that Disney has it on their information sheet/directory of services at check in...like pool hours, laundry info, etc...but it states under housekeeping, "During your stay at most of our resorts, bed sheets are changed every four nights or upon request."

I thought of the DisBoards when I read this;)

For medical reasons we always request that the pillows, sheets and bedspreads are changed out prior to arrival. And, trust me we know when they aren't.... Disney hotels have always gone out of their way to make sure it happens.

Then once there we call every morning and request our sheets be changed ... they have never had a problem doing that. I tip the housekeeper more because I know it takes more time.

One year, I marked the sheets to make sure they were being changed and they were ... so I am fairly confident that when requested they do as you ask.

We were on the monorail and a bunch of nurses got on and were talking about the germs, etc. that were in rooms and the one nurse very proudly stated that she always put her remote control in a zip lock bag in her hotel room. We laughed so hard when she got off because she spent the whole monorail trip standing up, gripping the pole with her hand and the man that had been on before her had coughed all over.....

we always tell mousekeeping to change our sheets every day, but i didn't realize the part about bedspreads and blankets...
i think i'll give them a call a few days before we arrive...

no matter where i am, the first thing i do in a hotel is remove the bedspead and pack it away in the closet...
i also always try to stay in hotels that use duvets (sheet covers on the blankets), but of course that's not a perfect solution either....
and yes, thinking about it is disgusting...

that idea of having them wash the carpets....maybe i'll do that too...
i hate carpeting in general, and in hotel rooms even more....

Until now, I truly thought I was the only person totally skeeved out by hotel bedding. I'm still feeling pretty yucky about this, but if it's true and they do change the bedding if asked then I should be OK. To think of all the possibilities --- ewwwwww.

I would think this would be unsanitary (the sheets especially) and that the Board of Health would have an issue with this too, but what do I know?

They DO change the sheets before you check in, just not the blankets and comforter.

They won't change the sheets for you every day of your stay though unless you ask. We've never asked for this though, because I don't change our sheets at home every single day, why would I need them changed at a hotel every day?

I agree. It doesn't bother me that they don't change the sheets everyday, either---I change mine every Wednesday. But I also think that they should at least wash the blankets and put CLEAN ones on the beds after guests check out. When I have guests at my house, I always wash the comforters after their stay (of course, I don't have as many guests at my house as hotels do ;)).

:wave2:

There is a new thread started about this subject on the 1st page of the resort forum. Look for "Bedding Report is simply GROSS" by BeeBumble.
This whole subject can get rather carried away, we can drive ourselves crazy  !!!! However, no matter what, I Want Clean Bedding !!!! If that's all I ask after the price I am paying to stay at WDW...then I feel I should have that. I don't think I'm asking too much.;)
