How my kids got lost at SW

Hope this helps someone!

Near the large play structure (the netted kind like McDonalds) there is a pirate ship in a lagoon. Well, apparently (we didn't know this) it has TWO entrance/exits.

We told the kids to go on it, and we'd meet them right back here.... Couple minutes later...No kids..... Still no kids...

So hubby goes to find them, and comes back all a-tither as there's another entrance/exit (!!!!!).

Turns out they went out the wrong one, figured it out, and tried to wander around looking for us. THey were missing for about 5 minutes but it was a long 5 minutes........

So, FYI.... even though it's in a "lagoon" it has 2 bridges, and you can't see the one from the other side.....

Thanks for posting this. We're going this December with young ones, so I'll definitely keep this in the back of my mind.

yup, same age as yours. Mine were 6 and 9 when this happened. Old enough to go on a playground by themselves, but NOT old enough to go wandering around the lagoon by themselves!

When you say lagoon, are you talking about the bit of shallow water around the boat? Or are you talking about the big lake/lagoon near the Shamu stadium? Since there are lots of places in theme parks with two entrances, a suggestion for "next time", I have always taught my children if they lose me to stay put or if there is a crew member in sight to ask for help. In this case there is a First Aid and Baby care center within view of the pirate ship and a counter service place they could have asked for help. I would also advise that if a parent misses a child to contact a crew member right away.

I am glad you were able to find your children quickly.:cutie:

hmm memory fuzzy. It's a child's play structure so I can't imagine it's truly a deep water, but it's made to look like it is. There are 2 bridges that go to it.

yeah, we always said for getting lost== "don't go far, find a mommy." The 9 year old wanted to do that (she said) but the younger one (the boy wouldn't you know it) was OFF and she followed him and then he went in the big mcdonalds-type play structure (which was right by the entrance where we were waiting, he must have went behind us). At that point the older one got scared- didn't follow him into the play structure- and found a mommy. We found her first and quickly, standing with a family by the play structure.

She said her brother went up into it (shocker...not) and that's how we found him. He was not even scared... sigh!
