How much weight did you gain on your cruise?

I was concerned about this last year before our cruise and 3 days at WDW. I had lost about 25 pounds before we left and planned on gaining 10. I didn't (but there were other reasons I didn't), but DH gained 5 pounds. We used the stairs primarily, walked a lot more than normal, did not hold back on the food, drank lots of water. The weight came off right away afterwards. I read somewhere that in part it is because of the water. The water is desalinated, so you don't taste the salt, but there is sodium in the water, a fair amount too. Most of the gain can be attributed to water retention. Traveling too throws my system off. I know you've been trying hard to lose your weight, but you also said on another thread that people think you are too skinny now and should stop losing. If that is true and you have a month left, you should be fine even if you gain 5-10 pounds. I still have about 7 to lose before our Nov 1 cruise so I have the 10 pounds to work with :D If I gain it back - oh well, I planned for it. If I don't, I'm just that much closer to my goal:teeth:

Hi moinab.

You know yourself best.

But some past posters have called imgoingtodisney "clueless." Just in case, perhaps you should take notes Barb...

JUST JOKING, FOLKS. AND I'M SURE BARB KNOWS IT.

I used to gain a lot, eating anything and everything, 2 desserts, etc. but not anymore. I, too, know just how difficult it is to lose weight, so I have better control now. :p Just eat in moderation but certainly don't deprive yourself, but don't go all out either. It may taste good, but not as good as how being "thin" feels. I'm sure I'll gain some weight on my upcoming cruise, but I don't plan on it being a lot.

ok BD - now thats enough (and yes I know youre joking)

I do believe tho that "nothing tastes as good as being thin feels"
I "know myself" and once I start to let go I keep going and going and going so better not to start going

Hi,

I gain 10 pounds every DCL cruise!Ugh! That's why I am the weight I am...I sail her every year and every year I eat my crusie price in food! I love their room service and all their restaurant foods.
This year I am opting for RCCL's new 7 day Mariner of the Seas cruise out of Port Canveral. I am very worried about gaining weight on that one cause I'll be on it much longer and right after the Thanksgiving holiday too. The only ship I didn't gain weight on was Carnival's Fantasy out of that port (I hated their room service and didn't care for the food as much).
Now, I have to admit I haven't been able to bring myself to use DCL's excercise room (who really has time on a quick 3 or 4 day cruise) and they never seem to have those darn excercise classes in the late morning, afternoons or evenings anyway.
I run once a week at home and use weight equipments, but I still haven't been able to get rid of last years November cruise weight gain and here I go again.....<BG>

This is a great thread. Interesting responses from everyone.

Im one of the "Im on vacation, Im eating what I want" group. ;)
I jog and ab crunch everyday at home and try to get in a walk most days too. I also "diet" about 5 days a week. To me, part of the vacation is taking a vacation from the diet and exercise routine. There is no way I would jog or watch what I eat or especially drink on a trip. To prove this, we just got back from WDW a few weeks ago and yes I did gain about 8 lbs. As of now Im only up about 1-2. I dont kill myself at home taking it off, I just get back to my regular routine and it will come off. I would be doing what I do whether I gained 10lbs or 1 lb so why not enjoy the vacation. :D

its a vacation. eat enjoy play have fun and dont feel guilty for eating. if you walk ealk walk walk and keep active then you should be ok. and remember its a vacation not a diet.
