We are booked into a deluxe room at the HRH later this month (our family of 5 needs the extra space) and are considering upgrading to club level.

I know some have successfully ugpraded at check in for an additional fee-- How much was that fee? Does it depend on the number in your party?

I have a poolview reserved and was hoping the same thing. So far the upgrade amount I am hearing is $100. Too much for just DH and me.

I believe it depends on on the rate you are currently paying. Club rooms are usually about $100/night more than standard rooms so that is usually the upgrade fee. Since you are staying in a deluxe and paying a higher rate it may be less. I was told one time in the past at HRH that the upgrade fee would be the difference between the $149/night rate I was paying and $200 which was the minimum rate allowable to be on club. I was only staying for one night so it was only $50. This was a few years ago though so that minimum rate may be much higher now. Make sure you realize however that if you pay the upgrade fee you will be upgraded to club but you will lose your deluxe room and be put in a standard two queen club room which is significantly smaller.

i have only stayed on the club level three time 2003 /04 /05.....october each time.

i was thrilled the first time to be there and really enjoyed the food and snacks.

i don't want to burst your bubble but oct 05 when i stayed club, it just wasnt worth it........refills for the pastries in the morning just didn't happen.
snacks in the afternoon were opened bags of p chips and pretzels.
evening items were not special and not much of a variety. the quality of the food offered changed from what i was used to

i guess i am comparing it to the last 2 stays at club which were winners.

i really enjoyed the coffee, bottled water and soda that is available all the time in the lounge but for me, its not worth the extra cost.
i can buy a lot of snacks and beverages with that extra money.

if you have the chance for the upgrade to club, do take it !!
its great to try it at least once.

if you are paying a large sum of money for the upgrade, think twice before you do. if it is a view that you want, there are some great ones on the 6th floor. if it is the daily paper you need, loews members get that automatically.

Ditto - I have never found that it is "worth" it.

:wave2: I also agree. Even back in 2001, Club was not worth the extra money. Who wants nutter butters and oreos when I'm sure someone in the kitchen knows how to whip up some homemade cookies. It doesn't cost that much extra to make. Refusal to replenish missing foods was nothing new then either.

If it is the view you are looking for, just be careful and ask what the view is before you get the upgrade. You just might end up looking over the entrance to the hotel...with the roof right under your window.

Agree that club is worth it to try as an upgrade, but to pay for it, no.

Visit Publix before checking in and pack a cooler.

The big thing is having doughnuts and milk for breakfast, and then drinks for when you get back. You can call Flippers and have pizza delivered in, and put the leftovers in zip lock bags.

It's just a matter of doing all this work yourself before checking in.

We were there over Thanksgiving week, I had reserved a Pool view. On check in I was asked if i wanted to upgrade to club. She said since i was a lowes first member it would only be $35 a night ! Of course i said yes....if i could still have a pool view.
We were delighted with the club level, but we easily ate $10 each per day ( there were just me, my DH and DD 14)

I read in another thread that there are deluxe rooms on the club level, but they are not advertised as such. Than is, that the layour it the same on every floor, with four (or maybe it was six?) deluxe room on each floor, including the club floor. If we could upgrade to club for $50 or less per night and keep our larger room, we will definately do it.
