There is no need to get defensive. This is just a wedding gift, not an organ transplant.
I think the defensive part comes from the constant We are from the South, so we have manners and dont act like those ugly New Yorkers posts

Different regions, different ways. Like I said, I am shocked that people would have family members serve food at a wedding. I cant imagine having cake and punch in a church basement for a reception, nor a backyard potluck picnic to celebrate a wedding. Just like you cant imagine what the people in the NYC areas do.
But to keep up the stupid, passive aggressive Well bless your hearts or We are from the south, we wouldnt dare act like that does get quite annoying on these boards. Being from any region does not make your way better.
If you think something is rude, just say "I think it is rude". You don't have to do the big song and dance of "I am from the south, we are the most polite people in the world, so I think your way is wrong"
