How much $$ to add water parks?

Good morning folks I think I might have missed something in my planning and maybe you can help. We are doing Spring Break at SSR arriving 4/1 we have Annual passes purchased 5/15 before all the changes to tickets and we have used them. If I want to add water parks and photopass to these tickets do I have to upgrade to the PAP paying the price difference between the approx $529 I paid and the $7 hundred whatever they are now? So really $200 and more per ticket?

I was reading on another thread that a WP AP is only $110 and that might be the way to go. For some reason I have been adding $177 to upgrade 3 AP to water park in my planning..Did I go terribly wrong somewhere?

lol, I'm really confused! after more reading I think I can upgrade our AP to PAP for about $85? The difference between what an AP costs now and what a PAP costs now? Is that more correct?

You'll get the value you paid, not the current gate price, applied toward your upgrade. You can "upgrade" to the Gold pass for about $20 to get the photopass benefit, as long as the blackout dates work for you. Beyond that, the water park AP probably makes the most sense.

Also you don't need to upgrade everyone's AP. We just upgraded mine since I manage the MDE for the family. All our pictures show up and I can download them. When we went last month and only did 1 water park we just bought day tickets for us.

Thanks deltapilotwife We are planning on doing the water parks 3 or 4 times so I think we are going to buy the annual passes for the water park for everyone and then just upgrade my AP for the photopass. Lots more then I was planning on darn it!

Even if you are there during the blackout period, you can "upgrade" 1 pass to the Gold AP after you entered the park on the last day (of trip or blackout period) and get the photos for the trip.
(We were able to do that "upgrade" on Dec 23, during Christmas "blackout" ... It took a bit of talking to get the CM to realize it's just like the old upgrade to PAP that can happen at any time of the year)

I finally decided that we will buy the water park AP for the kiddo($115) so she and her friend who is going with us can hit the WP's as much as they want. Then DH and I are going to buy the seasonal pass at $55 each and just go once. We think we will enjoy the pool and pool drinks at SSR while the kids go off by themselves for a bit. If we decide we want to go a second time we will just get another seasonal pass. The cost is about the same and we won't be back to use an AP anyway. I will upgrade my AP to the Gold Pass for $18. So instead of a heart attack inducing amount I got it down to $245 ish. In case anyone was wondering how this all turned out

You may want to go to a ticket window or guest services and ask how much it would cost to upgrade your AP to whatever the new premium one is called.

It may well be prorated to a smaller cost than the actual difference in price when new as you have already activated and used it for a previous trip. At least this is what they used to do.

You mentioned that you purchased them on 5/15. If you used them way back then for the first time, the upgrade should be fairly cheap. I haven't done this recently, so I don't know for sure.

I think it might have worked differently before, I was reading the old ticket sticky that Cheshire Figment handled and it said Disney would give you the current value of the ticket you had no matter what you had paid. If that were still true I could have upgraded us all for about $85 a ticket but when I called I was told the same information that supersnoop shared. They only give you the price you paid for the ticket. I didn't find another way to just do a water park add on to the tickets we had, I thought that used to be pretty cheap..like $60 or something? Too bad they don't do this anymore! I remember going up to the Premium Annual for just a few dollars years ago when my regular annual was nearing expiry.

I't think they every prorated upgrades. It looks like you're a DVC member, and there was a special a couple years back where the Premium was only $6 more than the regular pass. That might be what you're remembering.

No. I've used annual passes for years on and off. Yes, I am DVC and we do get a discount and yes I also had the Premium annual the year they offered it for $399.

I've also upgraded from a regular to a premium for a small amount near the end of my regular year. I did it to get the discount at the time (shopping at WOD 20% - the good old days) and to use the pass to get into water parks or mini golf or whatever we were doing. This was where they prorated the difference between the cost of the passes because there was no longer a year of use left.

They also used to let you renew a pass and it didn't start until you used it the first time. And of course there was the time they gave us 15 months on a pass. They have liked us to come back during down times. During the good times it gets a little questionable on how much they actually like the frequent visitor.
