How much time to allow to get from Orlando airport to Port Canaveral?

I was wondering how much time do people build in the schedule for getting from MCO to Port Canaveral? A couple guidebooks I read say to allow at least 90 minutes, up to 2.5 hours because of possible traffic on the freeways. An accident can really slow things down is what I read.

Well, I am communicating with Quicksilver Transportation to arrange a private van for transportation (7 people). We have a PAT of 11:45a-12p (on a Saturday). So I was guessing 9:45a would be a good pick up time. The representative emailed me back and said that 11a would be fine since it only takes 45 minutes. When I asked about building time in for traffic, he said "Very rare to have traffic on this toll road".

So I thought I'd check with people on this board what is typical. Thanks!

Last time we went, it took 45 min to 1 hour.

It really shouldn't take more than an hour. Accidents do not happen that frequently on the beach line (SR528) that close down the road. Now if you were taking I-4 then accidents and closed interstates happen a lot. My personal preference would be 10:30 or 10:45am, but I like to be there a few minutes early to find my way around.

Agree that there really isn't a traffic problem on the road from the airport to Port Canaveral. Certainly not any "rush hour" kind of traffic. Yes, its possible to encounter an accident along the way but highly unlikely. Also agree that it will take less than an hour, probably more like 45 minutes, to drive.

I would ask for 10:45. That gives you time to get the luggage loaded and unloaded & the driving time.

I live in Orlando and we drive over to the port often. It is a 45 minute drive. Very few accidents on this road. A saturday should be a breeeze. If for any reason there would be an accident there are other options that would take about and hour plus.
