How much time do you give yourself in the morning to get ready?

I am shocked at my friends who say they have to leave by 7:00 or even 7:30, but their alarm goes off at 5 because they need that much time to get some coffee, putz around, wake up, read the news, etc....

I have to leave at 6am. To me, that is really early. I get up around 5:30. My routine is easy: Get the coffee started, jump in the shower, get dressed, grab my coffee and maybe a bagel, and jump in the car and go.

I occasionally get up at 5:15 if I need a little extra time, but I don't go on the computer, or sit and have coffee, or anything else.

You?

I have to be at work by 7 so I have to leave the house by 6:30 at the latest. I like to get up at 5 so I can get ready and sit with my coffee and the Disboards before I go in for a LOOOONNNNGGGGG 12 hour day. I don't get home until 8pm so this is really the only chance I get to relax all day.

12 hour days 5 days per week?

It only takes me about 45 minutes to get ready, but my husband and I tag-team getting the (little) kids ready and that takes much longer -- about an hour and 45 minutes altogether.

I get up at 6:24 on the days I stay home. I get the three teens up, hop in the shower, get dressed and drive them to the bus stop at 6:50. On the days I work I get up at 6:18 so I have time to slap some makeup on. I'm low maintenance.

I try to leave the house by 6:45 am or so, but I need to have coffee and then I do either cardio or weight work-out in the morning, so I get up at 4:45. That way, I can have a cup of coffee, sit on the computer for a few minutes, work-out, jump in the shower and leave.

I set my alarm for 6:30 and hit the snooze button until 6:48. I roll out of bed and stumble across the hall to the bathroom making sure both kids are up on the way by. I shower and am ready to get out the door by 7:15. I drop my daughter off at school and arrive at work usually about 25 minutes early hoping for a little bit of quite time to prepare for the day but lately that hasn't been working out the way I hope for.

I get up at 530 and shower. Then, I do anything that needs to be done that DH hasn't done - lunches, sign stuff, start dinner, dishes, etc. Then, I sit down with DH and watch an episode of "Married with Children". Then, at 630, the kids and I go get dressed, do hair, brush teeth, etc. We are out the door by 645.

So, I, in reality, need about 20 minutes. Shower = 5 minutes, and then 15 to get ready. If I did everything the night before, it would be like that :)

I wake up at 6 when DH gets up, he brings me tea in bed because he's AMAZING, then I read the news, check emails etc until 6:45 when I remind my boys to get dressed, jump in the shower then make breakfast etc - we leave the house at 8 on days I'm working, 8:10 when I'm not

Up at 4:10am - shower, shave, pack lunch, get work clothes ready
Out the door at 4:30am for the gym
Leave the gym at 5:45am for work

This, almost exactly. I've always been an early riser so these wee morning hours are a no-brainer for "me" time. I love having time alone to think, read, pray, and just generally brace myself for what the day brings. I work in a very hectic environment and DH now works from home, so other than early morning I don't really get another chance to be alone with my thoughts. I would be off-kilter all day if I had to just jump up and rush out the door.

I have 15 minutes to get ready in the morning - my alarm goes off at 5:45 am, and I need be in the kitchen cooking for the family at 6:00 am in order to have breakfast ready when everyone comes downstairs at 6:30 am. I don't wear makeup, I take my bath at night, and my clothes are laid out the night before.

I need to leave the house by 7:40-7:45. I get up at 6:30 on days I wash my hair, on the other day I get up at 6:50.

I leave the house at 5:10am. and get up at 4AM, so that's about an hour and 10 minutes. What do a do?

1. Shower
2. Carry my 16 y/o dog downstairs and let her out (she's super slow). While she's doing that, take thyroid meds, give her a fresh bowl of water then help her back up on the deck. Fix her a bowl of food.
3. Let dog drink water than carry her back upstairs with me so she can eat in my room (she has anxiety in her old age). Brush teeth, blow dry hair, do makeup, put on work clothes (to include pantyhose).
4. Bring dog back downstairs and put her away for the day. Get lint roller and remove all dog hair from work clothes from carrying her. Fix lunch and other stuff to take to work.
5. Leave.

I estimate the dog duties add 20 minutes or more onto my morning routine.

I leave for school drop off at 7:35, so I get up at 6:30. Shower, makeup, hair, get dressed, pack my lunch. I then focus on my DD14 who moves like a freaking turtle. My next 20 mins are: "ok, lets get a move on, you got 20 mins left.... sweetness, hurry up, 15 mins left....pick up the pace kiddo, 10 mins left....seriously, shoes on, we need to leave in 5 mins......oh my lord child, why are you so freaking slow, you are going to be late!"

I then drive 30 mins to work. If I did not have DD14, I would be getting up at 7:00, to be out the door at 7:30 for work.
