We are flying out at 3:10 to go home on 9/3. How much time should I allow from wdw to leave? How early should we be at the airport? 2 hours?

I'm just trying to figure out how much time we have in the morning to play:) :Pinkbounc

It's about a 50 minute ride. We have always taken the Turnpike(417) because the traffic is a lot better than on I-4. It's also very easy access from WDW and SFB. It's costs you about $4 in tolls but we think it's worth it. We've always gotten to the airport around the 2 hour mark and haven't had any problems getting through security. Sanford is no where near as busy as MCO which is why we try to fly in and out of there if possible. Hope that helps!

It's about 55-60 minutes drive time depending on which Disney hotel you are driving from. Take Hwy 417 north (The Greenway), NOT the "Turnpike". The Florida Turnpike north will take you towards Wildwood, which is up near the Ocala area.

Thanks! We too will be flying into Sanford (from Allentown PA via Allegient) I was wondering this myself.

DISUNC...

Have you flown Allegient Air before? How was it? We're considering it out of Allentown this summer......

How do you get to POP from Sanford, rental car, town car?

We've always flown into MCO, this will be a new experience for us!

TIA! :)

We're flying from Allentown on Allegiant in late June, I got great rates for us (175.00 each that's with reserved seats!). We're getting a Town car service to pick us up and take us to OKW and then return us to the airport on 'go home day'. As there are nine of us going is only costing us about $22 per person (RT) for the town car service. We used a Town car service our last trip to Disney and it's very convenient and the driver's were great. Most of them will even stop for a quick (30min) grocery stop on the way to the WDW.
We flew into Sanford three years ago on Transmeridian out of Syracuse, I really liked it compared to MCO. Much less congested.
Airfare out of Binghamton has been outrageous, as has airfare out of Syracuse!

We usually rent a car, but were planning on use ME this summer, since we're only doing disney. But if we fly into Sanford, that's not available. The car rental from Sanford was outrageous (close to $300)...maybe I'm just spoiled with the rates and discounts from National out of MCO. The Town Car from Fl Tours was like $210 rt.... that plus tip puts it at about $65/person rt. The airfare price and times are great for allegient, by the time I add the 2 hour drive to Allentown and back, plus airport parking and tranfers or rental car, it puts them up close to flying from BGM into MCO. (I have FF miles for 1 free rt airfare)

I'll have to keep working on it....

We spend the winters in Orlando Area and summers in Allentown Area

Avoid I - 4 (orlando) whenever possible... traffic is crazy anymore and there are always accidents!

As for ABE & Allegiant... ABE is a wonderful small convenient airport. However, they are having a hard time keeping budget airlines (Hooters Air pulled out this spring & I think it was called TransMedian pulled out last summer/fall) I am not a fan of allegiant (yet another budget airline that you have to cross your fingers they don't close up) Allegiant charges for seat assignments (10$ per person per segment)

If a "budget" airline (aka charter airline) goes out of business/or discontinues service Other airlines are not obligated to honor your ticket...

If i am not mistaken (correct me if i am wrong), if your flight is cancelled on a main airline (say Delta). And there are no other available Delta flights... American Airlines would allow you to fly stand-by on one of their flights with your delta ticket (and possibly a $50 fee). I do not know if that applies if Delta would go out of business.

DISNEYAGAIN,

I have not flown Allegiant Air before. There have been a few threads here where people recommend them. I normally drive down to WDW. However the 89.00 (with assigned seat) price & DIRECT flight....I couldn't turn that down.

Not to mention I live very close to Allentown airport, and can get people to easily to drop us off & pick us up.

I will be renting a car (10 day trip), we will be going offsite a few days. Dollar rental has the lowest prices in Sanford Airport.

With taking the airline & renting a car, for 2 people...it is working out much cheaper than driving down. Also, since I am not driving, we are staying 3 DAYS LONGER THAN NORMAL!!!!!!

Disneyagain,

We also had a FF, however I could not get a FF ticket on US Air out of BGM or SYR for any date even close to when we were going. We really had set days that we had to choose from to fly (my DH has to put in for vacation back in December), so we had very little flexibility for dates. Tiffany Town car is only $180 rt and the economy parking is right around $40.00 for the week. The drive down doesn't really bother us so that's really not a consideration. BGM to MCO flights have been $300+ in June, hopefully they are better for you! Have a great trip!!!! :)

We reserved the MYW w/ dining package 8/13-8/19. We have some flexibility with a day either way, but pretty well set on those dates. I just checked AA and they don't have FF seats available on those dates and I'm waiting to hear from USair, I lost my FF# and Pin, so I can't check those. I'm thinking I'm not going to get a seat this late.

We may just drive down, to keep this an inexpensive trip. We did DCL in November and DH and I are going to San Francisco in 3 weeks (hopefully, we have Delta booked :confused3 )

I got pulled right in for the free dining....$1,530 for 2 adults, 2 kids (11,13) at POP for 6 nights.....with 6 day Hopper passes.......For that price we have to go :goodvibes

I've got time to keep looking, the plan now is to drive, unless something good comes along!
