I'm trying to sell a beautiful lazy boy sofa at a yard sale but I don't know what to charge, does anyone have a idea what one should cost?

So many variables! Is it leather? neutral color, etc. What is the general resale market in your area? Have never purchases a Lazy Boy sofa, but 15 years ago purchased two leather recliners for $1,000 ea. and they are both still in excellent condition, but doubt we could get over $100 -150 resale if we wanted to sell. Furniture does not seem to hold it's resale value well, and we live in a somewhat affluent area.

Hard to sell really nice things at yard sales as most are looking for cheap bargains, not something of real value to pay the price. There's always an exception, of course.

My advice, for what it's worth, is to check on Craigs list and see what similar pieces are selling for - would probably be better to list it on something similar. Also, check Nextdoor - there are local listings here on that.

Good luck!

$50? Not many people want to buy used furniture with fabric. We just had an estate sale, the chairs and couches that were sold were antique, a buyer came in after and purchased what was left, and actually left behind a newish sofa, couch and recliner.

We posted photos of ours on craigslist, saying it was free to anyone who would move it.
Got a bunch of inquiries and it was taken right away.

Most people will be concerned about spills, accidents and bedbugs.
Maybe 50.00 and if it doesn't go quickly drop it to free. That way you won't have to pay someone to have it hauled away after the sale.

How badly do you want rid of it? As others said/implied you won't get anywhere near what it's worth.

Free. Unless it's leather, then I would check craigslist and FB for local pricing, but I wouldn't expect much more than $100. Lay-Z Boy leather isn't the best quality.

Is the yard sale advertised as being for furniture/big items? Most people going to a yard sale are not going to be prepared to take away a sofa.

Disagree, unless they've lost quality in the last few years. Our 15 yr old recliners are still in excellent condition and the leather has worn beautifully.

Try freecycle.org. You don’t get paid but if someone wants your unwanted item they will come and take it as opposed to it ending up in a landfill. We’ve used it successfully several times over the years.

Yep. We couldn't even donate a sofa. None of the places accepted upholstered furniture.
Deseret Industries and Goodwill will take upholstered furniture here as long as the fabric isn't stained or ripped. We replaced our 35 year old cloth upholstered hideabed/couch in January, and Deseret gladly took it. Somehow we raised 2 kids, and had 4 cats without it getting damaged. The cushion foam was compressed, but it was still perfectly fine otherwise. And 6 years ago when my mom passed away and I had a garage sale, the upholstered stuff went quickly. The GOOD hardwood 60 year old dining room table, chairs and matching china cabinet nobody wanted.
