How much room in cabin for suitcase storage?

do you put your suitcases in the closet? are there drawers for the clothes? We have a family of 4, so I'm wondering where in the small cabin our 4 empty suitcases will be stored during the trip.

We usually store our suitcases either in the closet or under the bed .... Andy

Another vote for under the bed storage of luggage.

There are drawers and there's a cabinet with shelves where clothes can be kept.

We also like to bring extra hangers.

On our first cruise we had a suitcase that would not fit under the bed and it was a total pain. So the next time we came we made sure that all the suitcases would collapse to about 6 inches, and we put them all under the bed--even the carryons we had on the plane.

We brought one big duffel that we used for laundry and left it in the closet, along with one backpack styled carryon that we took ashore and on Castaway Cay.

Getting those suitcases out of sight really opened up the stateroom for us.

Under the bed with dirty laundry in the closet.

I was very shocked when I got there and there was not as much drawer space I thought there might be. But we did well. There are a few shelves in the closet and that's where we put jeans, pants that could be folded and shoes as well as backpacks, bags, etc. We put our suitcases under the bed and one we lodged under the vanity because it was small and held our soda and water. We pushed the vanity seat under the vanity as well to have some extra moving space. I love the idea of putting the luggage under the beds. If I wouldn't have read that here we probably wouldn't have known to do that and we would have been tripping over our bags as well as each other.

I found out the hard way that many of the newer suitcases that have the hanging bag zip compartment, two levels of packing, do not fit under the bed. We were in a Navigator's verandah, 3 women with identical suitcases and nowhere to put them. You can believe me that that "evil" suitcase will not get another DCL vacation.

We some of our suitcases on the floor of the closet. We put some under the bed. The rest (most) of the luggage goes on the shelf above the hangers in the closet. How is this possible you ask:confused: We take those darned big (but necessary) lifejackets and put them under the bed after the safety drill. You would be amazed at how big of a suitcase you can get up there. Also be sure to "nest" as many of the bags as possible.

We also bring extra hangers. You can alwasy ask your room steward for more if you need them.

We have the big suitcases that expand as well. Definantly deeper than 6 inches. We put some of them inside each other, lifted the bed frame up & slid them under. We could not get them out without lifting the frame but they didn't bother us at all while sleeping.

We fit 4 large bags under the bed. We also put dirty laundry in those bags. Fit perfect!!!

I would never have thought that our luggage would fit under the bed if I hadn't read on the disboards about it. If you try to just slide them under, they wouldn't fit, but if you lift up the bed and then put them under they fit great! We had huge suitcases and they all fit under the bed. We had plenty of storage room with the closet and they drawers next to the closet and the trunk deal that opened up and had shelves in it. We were very suprised by all of the storage. I had bought one of those over the door shoe hangers at Wal-mart before we left, but there was really enough shelves and such in the bathroom that we really didn't need it. I thought it was kind of in the way

We had 6 large pieces, most about 9-12 inches thick; they all fit under the bed (we had to lift the bed for the largest piece, but that was it. And we were overwhelmed with the drawer space, I think we counted 25 drawers? Three of us on the 4 day cruise, lots of leftover closet and drawer space.

When we cruised on Royal Caribbean last summer our suitcases wouldn't fit under the bed, so our room steward took them and stored them for us and then brought them back to our cabin on the last day. Would DCL do this? I'll try stuffing them under the bed but to be honest I'd rather have them taken and stored. Since there will be 4 of us in our cabin, I'd rather put the life vests under the bed instead of the suitcases.

I was glad to read that we could get our thick suitcases under the bed if we lift the bed. We will try that. I had NOT thought to stuff the life vests away, and use their space for suitcases. And to answer a question.....we asked our room steward if there was somewhere on DCL that our too-fat (so we thought) suitcases could be stored, and he told us no.

On Princess last year we had a HUGE ccloset, so had room for luggage easily.......even after I HAD luggage. Some ditzy lady at the LAX airport thought she needed my luggage more than I did.....so I was the unhappy camper setting sail with only a swimsuit and an extra pair of panties!

We asked our steward about storing our luggage and were told they don't do that anymore.

We have hardsiders, were able to fit 2 in the closet with some manouvering. Carryons went on the top shelf.
