How much of an issue is "false fire alarms" in resorts?

Interesting, three mentions of the Hard Rock Hotel in a fairly small number of replies. I'm not sure why that hotel in particular would have such a problem with this.
Don't know if it's way more common there or not
It's the only resort we've stayed in during our twice yearly Universal stays for the past 3 years and have not ever had one go off while we were there.

Never had this happen at Disney. Did once in an embassy suites. I stayed in bed...lol. Someone knocked but did not enter. To darn cold to goto out.

I had it happen at Disney once. It was May 2017 and about 3:30am at Boardwalk. I was a bit disoriented after being woken up so unexpectedly and remember opening the room door to make eye contact with other disoriented guests across the hall as we all sleepily stumbled to find a staircase. We ended up sitting in the Courtyard for maybe 15-20 minutes until the alarms shut off. No one knew what to do and then a CM finally said that we could go back inside. I went back to sleep and woke up to an apology letter from Management shoved under the door. I’m assuming that the letter was given out to everyone, but it’s also possible that it was Club level only. Because of course, my one and only fire alarm experience happened during the single greatest upgrade I’ve ever received (booked Standard solo for 7 nights, upgraded to Club Level Deluxe with a balcony right over the Boardwalk Bakery). Win some, lose some!

Only happened in one hotel and it wasn't a Disney hotel. It was in Butte, MT, we were on our way to Victoria, BC and someone used the sprinkler head to hang something on. Head came off or the glass piece broke, water flowed and alarm went off. It was right across the hall from us because water flowed under their door. I was the hospital Fire Protection Engineer at the time and knew to feel the door before exiting out into the corridor. Everyone was evacuated to the parking lot until it was cleared. Then it went off again about an hour later while the water was settling in the system. We left the hotel at that point (about 6AM) and headed to Washington state.

We’ve been going to Disney for over 30 years. Never had it happen. , we did have a fire alarm go off in Victoria Canada once, in our room. They couldn’t shut it off, we got moved to the penthouse suite for the next two nights. It was a blessing,

My parents once had it happen at a non-WDW resort. They found out the next day that it was something in the kitchen. The evening it happened they all just stood outside for an hour or so, and then were told when they were clear to return.

There were no updates while they waited probably because at that point firefighters were doing their jobs and when the firefighters gave the all clear to the staff the staff likely just wanted to let the guests go back to bed...not keep them longer with explanations...since it was about 1am.

Happened to us on our last trip. It was out last night at BC. There was a 2am fire alarm. Stood outside in pj’s for over an hour. We ended up going back to our room, packing up, and leaving earlier than we planned. It was looong ride home.

We have stayed on site so many times I've lost count, but there was only 1 time that the fire alarm went off. We were staying at Beach Club, and apparently there actually was a small fire. The only thing that sucked was that it was like 2 am, and all of us patrons were standing outside for an hour in our jammies half asleep, LOL.

Was it in May 2017? We were there too. Good to finally have an explanation!

Happened last night at Universal Hard Rock Hotel, alarm went off at 3.30 for about 15mins (ladies recorded woo W saying stay in room until further notice over and over), prob was we were only there for one night to get an early start for Hagrid but couldn’t get back to sleep! Needless to say we missed the ride ☹️ Only time it’s ever happened in 16 years for us

I've been going to Disney since I was a baby. It's only happened to me once, my only visit to Disneyland. I was staying at the Grand Californian and it went off around 1am. Was horrible since I had gotten sick and it was freezing outside and they kept us out there for an hour. No clue if it was a real fire or not, there was no information provided. I don't think they are common, but can happen.
