How much of a credit card hold at the resort?

We don't use credit cards, only our debit. We're staying 1 night at ASM and 4 nights at the Polynesian, does anyone know how much of a hold they will put on our debit card, if any? Our trip is paid for, I 've been so focused on saving spending money that I just realized we might need quite a bit available for a hold. I have to call them later to confirm so I can ask, I just thought maybe someone on here would know. Thanks!

Values put $500, moderates $1000 and deluxes $1500. If you go over that limit they have you come down and submit a new line of credit.

They run it through to make sure its a valid card but do not put a hold on it...they do however place limits...at the values you will be limited to charging 500.00 before they charge the card and then start over. Even if you don't have $500.00 worth of credit (or cash in your account) that is the limit they place...but there are no holds.

So if I understand correctly, they will make sure my debit card is valid, but not place any hold or charge anything until I reach they're limit? We don't anticipate charging anything, so if that's true then nothing would be held or charged to my debit card, correct? Thank you.

If you don't plan on charging anything to the room, why would you need to give them your card? Your rooms keys don't have to have charging privileges

Ok, that was my question. I didn't know if they automatically needed the debit card even if we don't want charging privileges.

Just tell them that you don't want charging privileges and you won't need a card on file.

We've done it many times where we just didn't need charging privileges because we were only staying at that resort 1 or 2 nights. We usually bring down Disney Dollars, so there really isn't a reason to charge.

Sounds like you understand ...one thing to consider though is if you don't leave a card on file you won't have express checkout...so you will have to go down in the morning to checkout.

Is this true even if you're paid in full?

Yes and no. Yes it is true that you will not receive an express check out on your door the morning of your departure, but no it does not mean you "have" to go to the front desk to actually check out. Provided your account has no balance on it the front desk will treat it exactlly the same as an XCO, it will automatically get checked out at 11am. You can stop by the night before to get a copy of the bil (since it will be paid in full) or you can call the front desk and have them mail it to your home address.

If you are paid in full and don't want to be able to charge to your room so you don't put a CC on file will you still have phone access?

I stayed at a hotel one time, not at Disney, paid cash and didn't put a CC on file and they wouldn't turn on my phone.

Yes, Disney does not turn off the phone access. If you are on a cash basis with the resort you will still be able to use the phone. As with the Charging limits that they set for those leaving a CC #, you will be limited to $50 before they call you... sometimes they will leave you a message before you reach $50 (especially if you have kids in the room) just to make sure you are aware there are charges on the account.
