Planning our first trip for end of April.
Just found an offer to stay offsite for 687.00 per adult and 240.00 per child.
Our son is 15 and so i think he is an adult rate and then we have a 9 year old.
Oh yea, then there is the gas tax which i think is 287.00 a person.

This 687.00 includes airfare and hotel and i was told that the hopper passes can cost around 1300 for 5 days.
So, I am trying to budget for this trip . We plan on staying 7 days and if my budget allows we may stay 10 days.

I was thinking 1000.00 U.S for food for 1 week and another 1000.00 U.S for spending.

Total trip around 5500.00

Does this sound reasonable?

Thanks in advance for advice

Where are you flying out of ?
Would you consider flying out of Buffalo (for a fraction of the cost)
Would you consider purchasing separately (ie:flights,hotel,car....not package)?
Are you using an agent or would you consider booking everything yourself?
What airline are you flying?
What hotel?
You will differing opinions on these boards but I personally have booked everything myself for the past 6 or 7 years. I have to say that I would never go through an agent again simply because of the cost savings I have personally realized from booking online, myself.

If you decide to fly out of Buffalo and not purchase a plan let me know. I should have some DVC points to rent. You could stay on property for a lot less. Check out Saratoga Springs. Depending on how long you're staying I could save you some money.

Also you may want to stay onsite and conside the dining plan. You're thinking $1000 for food for the week for 4 dining plans it would cost $1036 but it would all be pre paid for up front.

We would be flying out of Manitoba. The nearest point of savings in the U.S would be Minneapolis which is a 5 hour drive. Not sure i want the hassle.
The hotel is off site--it was the radisson maingate and the other one I cannot remember.
These prices are also through an agent.
Dining plan sounds good.
If i book and then the dining plan is offered free can i still get it?

If you think that the driving to MSP Airport is going to be too much, then coming from Manitoba ,I guess its not too bad.
But,,,,just for your own interest I did some calculations if you were to fly out of MSP.

Using the dates Apr 22 - 29
4 tickets on Midwest Airlines from MSP to MCO = CAN $1184 (incl tx)
Room at Radisson Resort Parkway (I think thats the one you are referring to)
= CAN $1137 (for 7 nights .incl tax)
Total = CAN $2321

Total Flying for Manitoba using agent = $1948 for 2 adults
= $1054 for 2 kids
= $3002 (incl taxes)

Difference between 2 methods = CAN $681.00

I had calculated this last month and i found almost 1000.00 savings.
But, there is a hotel stay when we get there and probably another night when we land in Minneapolis. Then there is food and to pay for parking.
So, i was thinking of maybe a 500.00 savings if we were lucky.
I just think 10 hours of driving is not worth 500.00. Also, there is the gas that i forgot to factor in.
