Just sitting here going over my vacation costs for the umpteenth time and wondering how much others spend of their vacations. I can't help the curiosity of wondering if I'm over spending or in the ball park! Between hotel, tics, etc. a trip could get pricey pretty quickly. Though probably not as pricey as WDW lol.

Would you all mind sharing your total cost of your vacation?

I'll start...

2 Adults. -7 Days
On-Site hotel (CBBR & RPR)= $1106
Private Car Transportation= $120
Blue Man Group Tics= $160
AP Power Passes= $512
OOP Food and Misc. (est)= $1000

Trip Total = $2,898

I would guesstimate around 20k last year. That's 10 visits that averaged around 8 onsite days each visit, plus AP renewals, food, gas for the 5 hour trip one way, wands etc... Family of 5 and so much fun and memories! Probably more than that but a great year! 4 trips this year to universal and my 5th starting now. 8 days at Wdw two weeks ago. A few other trips to other locales last year and this year added in as well. We have had so much fun as a family and the kids have had a blast! Spoiled rotten....

$3282.35 not including food
3 people( 2 adults and a child over 12 so now 3 adults) , 6 nights Portofino Bay Club level
3 adult 4 day PTP tickets thru Undercover tourist
airfare RT for 3
Towncar RT

That number sounds about right.

This trip now is just below that number for 4 days. But that included HHN and RIP tour so this trip gets more expensive.

I could probably come up with a figure for the year (let's just say a lot) but like pcstang said, it's well worth the family time.

We come all the way from western Canada so it adds up quick. Our December trip will look something like this:

Flights: $1400
11 nights at RPR $1800 (40% off PIN code)
1 preferred AP $335
1 power pass AP $240
Food $1000
Seaworld, shows, I drive, misc expenses $1000

Total $5775 factor in CDN dollar exchange rate of 1.3 and were at $7500.

Our WDW Trips are usually around $10k.

Let's see. July trip.
Plane tix for 2- ~520
Third party rate for Four night CB- ~$600
Park tix bought on previous trip-APs
Food - ~400
Transportation to from airport -~$57
So, less than $1600 for five days/four nights.

Next trip is five night offsite on FIL timeshare ($52 to put in my name), AP tix, travel by car 9 hours each way (gas cost ~140), ~$500 food.
<$800

Family of four, 8 days, 7 nights - onsite stay, 3 park unlimited tix through UT. We always level off at 5 grand, including airfare, food, and souvenirs. Our decisions on food (counter vs. table), Blue man (seen it 3 times), a Discovery Cove visit, RPR or HRH, etc. determines our level of souvenir shopping. Needless to say, my wife has many hoodies, and I have many coffee cups!!!!

Family 5 (2 adults, 2 teens, one child):

airfare $1250
airport parking $45
driver $120
RP hotel for 7 nights $1838
5 Power Passes $1100
food $1100
$50 spending each $250
tips (maid) $20

TOTAL $5723

Here's my current budget. I went with a package with Universal which I know is not the most economical but I also wanted to be able to pay for it in one place, and the Harry Potter package gave us the photo thing at Shutterbottoms that I knew I'd never pay cash for, and and ... whatever. I know I could have done it cheaper but I didn't want to chase deals for months.

Two adults, arrive Friday, go home Tuesday:

$1387 - four nights at Cabana Bay (tower family suite, Harry Potter package - three day park to park tickets, two breakfast (Three Broomsticks and Leaky Cauldron) and the photo package at Shutterbottoms, plus transportation both ways and trip insurance (MIL has cancer))
$416 - flights on Spirit (adding two carry on both ways, minus the fees because I'll go buy the tickets at the airport)
$250 - three lunches, three dinners (counter service), Friday night dinner at Margaritaville
$30 - refillable popcorn bucket & refillable mugs for DD and I
$150 - gift card to DD for whatever she wants (she's responsible for the rest of her spending money)
$250-$500 - spending money for me, snacks, drink refills outside of meals, whatever. (I will have at least $250, I'm working on saving up more.)

Somewhere between $2500 and $2750. Could have done it cheaper, but we cut back a $6k vacation into this so I am not interested in cutting any more corners.

~$4300 for 1 adults and 2 teens for 3 nights. This included:
  • 3 nights at RPR ($954)
  • 3 adult park to park tickets with 3 HHN add-on tickets ($271 per person)
  • 3 RIP Tours ($511.17) + Tip
  • 3 Flights ($1089.60)
  • Transfers to and from airport ($120)
  • DD's spending money ($216 - she started saved her allowance starting the moment we vaguely thought about going)
  • Food/souvenirs ($450)
  • Shutterbutton Package ($139.99)
Obviously, there are some luxuries - even some expensive luxuries - on my list. If I had realized in May that we would be returning so soon, I would have been better off with annual passes. I could have saved $50 right off the bat by buying piece-by-piece through Universal rather than doing the HHN package, and I could have saved a little more by booking the room and buying tickets elsewhere. I went for ease in booking on this trip though.

I guess our trip would be pricier if we had additional add ons. My birthday is in October, but I hate anything scary so we'll always be skipping HHN and any of those related events.

The only additional expense will be if we make a short trip to WDW to MNSSHP lol.
