I just realized that sounds like an odd combination...
but if I have to buy it there, about how much do they charge for Beer, Wine, butter, cream cheese, bagles?? in the BWV store?

I've arranged for a grocery store stop with the towncar , but you never know. -

Plus, anyone know which grocery store Happy Limo uses?

I was going over to the DVC member board to see if I could get some prices from the grocery list there, and the only thing I saw listed was butter for $2.95 1/2lb, or Parkay is $1.95 1lb. They did have English Muffins for $2.89.

There were no listed prices for Beer or wine and I'm surprised that they didn't have bagels and cream cheese listed.

Maybe someone else out there has the answers for you!

The prices are high and the choices pretty slim. If you can get to a regular grocery store, you'll be better off. I bet you could even find a member who's heading that way and would be glad to pick up a few things for you. I know I've done this a couple of times for other members myself. You could even post for someone who will be there the same time as you and arrange a pickup. If you won't have a car but will be using a Limo service, they will do a grocery stop for you. You could also do Net grocer for non perishables. You could take a small cooler with you for the type of things you list if you needed to.

Thank you so much. I'm already packing a LOT :) , but we are flying so I'm limited at how much I can bring. I CAN buy beer/wine on Sundays in Florida , right? that's what I heard.

The prices for beer and wine are 2 to 3 times that at a normal store. you would almost be better off renting a car for 1 day from disney, make plans to go see some of the other things in orlando and then stop for more groceries.

Puffy2, Yes, you can buy beer and wine on Sundays in Florida. As others have said, the cost at DVC stores is inflated, like at any convenience store, so since you're stopping someplace else anyway, I'd stock up there if I were you. If you run out of something, or forget something, the higher price at the resort isn't too bad for one or two things. Remember, also, that the selection of beer and wine, as well as other items, is pretty limited at DVC shops. They do carry these items, but you won't have too much variety from which to choose.

FWIW - we "can" buy beer/wine on Sunday's - but not until 1:00 PM.

I've lived in the same town all my life, though - so I'm not sure if that's specific to my county (Hillsborough), or not...

Actually, beer can be a really GOOD deal at the screendoor if you walk in and buy one or two bass because you want a beer - that is $1.50 and is a bargain at disney. I don't think there is a better bargain on property.

The problem there is that bass is the only beer that is decent there.

If you are able to drink cheap american beer and that is what you are looking for, it would be a lot better to get it at the grocery store I'm sure, because it is the same price, so a sixpack would cost 1.50 X 6 = $9. Still not that bad for bass, but pretty high for swill.

Beer is pretty expensive at the Screen Door but not outrageous. It is true that Bass is the only good beer that they sell. I believe Bass last year was $9 per six pack and Bud was $6 per six-pack. I am not much of a wine drinker but the wines I recognized (eg Kendall Jackson) were only about 25% more then you will pay at a store heading into WDW..The Publix is expensive but they have a wonderful beer selection including several good Belgium ales...Rich

whoops, sorry, I thought that the American beer was the same price. So that is not as bad as I thought.

One time we went to the grocery store at the crossroads, they had a good beer seleection but I'm sure it is higher than in other groceries. The mention of good Belgians made me remember that.

I think that Tiffany will stop anywhere on the way, but I'm not sure.

During our last trip, we stopped at a local grocery store, can't remember which one (Winn-Dixie maybe) and bought beer/wine, bread, butter, bagels, english muffins, Peanut butter, and a few snacks.

Then when I went to the Screen Door I noticed the prices were only 5-10% more for the exact same items. I noted to myself then that I would just buy those items there, makes it a lot easier than making a special trip with the car and valet just to save $5-$10.

I have looked at the prices of wine at OKW and BW and the prices were resonable. Also I find that the bakery products that are pre-priced by the company are the same as regular groceries. IE....Entenman's bakery goods, loaves of bread, etc. Other products such as beer, lunch meats, milk, etc are much higher.

By the way...where is the Screen Door ?

As far as I can tell they don't sell good beer in florida.

Bass at 1.50 a bottle is farily good. I cant find a good micro brew any place down there.

As far as I can remember the wine selection was pretty good and the prices are a bit higher than the outside world. You pay for the convience. We also hit up the Seven 11 down the road.

Bill M, the Screen Door is on the Boardwalk right by the back entrance to the Inn and Villas.
