I have never golfed before, except for mini golf. I was thinking of trying it, but would like to get a lesson as well. I keep seeing all kinds of charges for clubs, instruction, and playing. What it the realistic total for everything for a first timer??

IMHO.........not a place to "try" to play golf for the first time................If you have never played the game before.......These are not the most difficult golf courses in the world, but nonetheless, not a place for someone who has never swung a club. Not to mention, depending on the time of year you are talking about, the cost is ridiculous..........

I am an avid golfer, not 'scratch' by any stretch of the imagination, but I thought that the prices at WDW were a little pricey........

I'd get a few rounds in at the local "hack" course before spending that kind of money at WDW.......unless of course money is no issue.....Again, JMHO.......

Almost forgot.............you can check the prices on the disney.com website, but I recall spending about $100 for the greens fees, $40 for the club rental ( I didn't bring my own clubs because I wasn't planning on playing) and another $20 or so for a dozen golf balls............. :teacher: :teacher:

try it at home first. I loved desert golf when I used to live in Tempe. WDW has some great courses, but between a lesson, club rental, and greens fees, you're looking about $300.00.

Part of how much it costs depends on the time of year you're going. From mid-May through September there's a really good special after 10:00am. Also, I think that it's alot cheaper if you golf in the afternoon. I'm big on Oak Trail for a beginner. When DS was 9 yo, DH took him there for his first round of golf ever. Now, we've got 2 extremes of ability-DS had never golfed, DH's handicap is about 1 or 2. Both of them loved Oak Trail-easy enough for DS to have fun, not get frustrated, yet challenging enough for DH to enjoy himself. Try this website: www.wdwgolf.com for lots of good information on the different courses-prices, layouts, etc.

a big part of golf is keeping up your pace so as not to hold up the people playing behind you. it will be very hard to do that if you take one lesson and then head out to the course.

Right now prices are like 109 - 129 per round, thats if you have your own clubs, balls etc. Includes cart fee too.

Staying on site gets a 10% discount and you can make your tee times 30 days in advance. AP holders get a 30% discount and can make tee times 14 days in advance.

If you are new to golf, do not play the 18 hole courses. Play Oak Trail. Best thing is to learn to play at your local course first. You could take some lessons on the range and putting greens at the 18 hole courses.

Have fun. Its a great game.
