How much does it cost to add a line to an IPhone?

My DH just got an IPhone through work. I wasn't planning on getting one because of the price (I don't use my cell very much), but someone told me to look into the family plan. I looked at the AT&T website but got really confused.

Not including the price of the actual phone, how much would it be to add a line with texting and internet?

Thanks!

If I am not mistaken you will have to have the $30 data plan per iphone

$30 alone is required for data service

Texting prices vary but you can get a package that includes unlimited for the entire family plan. I think it was around $10 for 500 txt per month.

Then there is the family plan price itself for voice.

So if he's paying about $80 a month (I'm not sure since work pays for it) how much more would it be for me?

Thanks!!

It's going to depend upon how many minutes you want in your family plan and if you want unlimited texting for family or individual texting package.

My recommendation would be for you do create a 'dummy' order on the AT&T website with 2 iPhones and see what it tells you your local monthly service would be plus your local taxes. I do believe the minutes plans vary a bit regionally and if your DH gets any kind of corporate discount that will need to be taken into account as well.

It will cost $30 for Data in addition to the plan you select for minutes and $5 - $30 for the texting plan you choose.

$5 for 200

$30 for family unlimited

We pay about $150 a month for 4 phones one of which is an iphone with $5 texting plan on it.

Cool - thanks again! We're going to be with the owners of the company tonight so maybe I can ask them how it would work.

$9.99 for the phone line
$30.00 for the internet/data
$??? whatever texting plan you choose

So, minimum $40 without text, plus add all the fed, tax, etc.

That's not all correct --- Family plan minimum rates include first 2 lines and cost difference is more than $9.99 between individual plan and base family plans.

If you already have a family plan with 2 phones on the plan and add a 3rd or more, then it's only $9.99 for the voice portion.

She'll most likely have to pay the $9.99 since her husbands phone is a business phone. She will be discussing it with her husband's boss later as she stated. As such, she's most likely adding to an existing set of phones (DH, his boss, etc.) meaning she will have to pay the $9.99 for voice portion, the $30 for data and whatever amount she chooses for the texting.

Plus the amount for additional minutes she intends to add to DH's employer's existing plan.

we have $50.00 plan for family have three phones we get extra minutes through DHs work. Its 550 family rollover minutes plus 200 from work for 750 minutes per month. $9.99 for each of our other two phones. $30.00 per month for unlimited texting & $30.00 per month for data plan for DHs Iphone.
$130 plus tax etc

unless you are also getting an iphone, you don't need the $30 data plan. We have four phones and only one is an iphone; the other phones are just regular phones. Our basic is $70 + $30 for one iphone + $30 unlimited texting.

I could be wrong - but doesn't the data plan include texting?

Anyway - unlimited data is $30.00; adding a line to a family plan is $9.99 and I believe it is $30.00 for unlimited texting on all phones on the family plan.

The question is the business plan a family plan and if not, do the same rates apply?

Similar, though not the same - We have four phones on our AT&T family plan, one is a Blackberry device.

For $50 we share 550 anytime minutes (hardly use and have rollover) and for another $30 have unlimited family texting. Each additional line is 9.99, so three of the 4 cost 9.99 extra. This is a family plan, not for business.

The Blackberry has the $30 BB data plan and is the "primary" phone. Portion of bill which includes the base plan and family texting is $126.
Another line has an unlimited data plan (not BB or iPhone) as well for $15 extra -otherwise data usage for IM'ing is charged by use. Portion of bill $42.
The other two lines, which have nothing extra, are less than $14 each.

Total: usually just under $200.

Data and Texting are separate features.
