How much do you spend on Clothes( and Shoes ) a month?
Or when you go shopping , how much do you typically spend in an outing.

I ahev cut down a lot in the last few months, but I used to spend about $350 a month on stuuf...as much as $500 . To me that was a lot.


Today i spend $15 on three, haha,
I find that the Aeropostale Graphic Tees is only $5...that sounds great to me...So i get two....$10..NOw they are shipping on the way...waiting for them.....when I passed by an Old Navy store on my way to a job fair and I stopped in to have a look.I noticed is that their denim shorts are only $5.00 too! Then I buy one........$5..

Hope i can save a lot this month...

I really do not spend much on clothing at all lately with just the two of us here. Normally I guess I spend about $100 a month, mostly on things like underwear, socks or replacement work pants for DH which get ruined easily We only buy shoes when we need them, which is not frequently.

My biggest shopping expense is food, and when I grocery shop I spend about $165 every two weeks.

If and when the shopping bugs hits me, I might spend 75.00 all at once. I'm not into handbags, shoes and clothes though.

Now, please do not ask me how much money I give to Mickey per year.

I very rarely buy clothing any more. I have at least one thing for everything. I never understood people who needed new clothes for events. Unless it is more formal than you would normally go to and have to have a different class of clothes just wear something you already have.

Same goes for shoes. I usually get 4 or 5 years out of everything other than my running shoes that get replaced once a year. Once a pair get retired they become my general athletic shoes for non-running activities. I did just have to replace my black work shoes but I bought the last ones in 2003 so I got plenty of time out of them.

I probably spend between 100-200 a YEAR on clothes for me. Maybe 200 on clothes for DH a year and probably 500 a year for DD9.

Someone hacked our Visa number this past week and spent $1000 on clothes from an online retailer. When DH was talking to the rep from Visa I heard him say, "no, neither my wife or I authorized those charges. We haven't spent $1000 on clothes in 20 years of marriage much less 20 minutes online."

Now, I love to shop. My boyfriend will send me shopping just to get me out of his hair. I got to the mall frequently because my boyfriend works a block away and go walk around while waiting for him. It would be a waste of gas to drive all the way home (about 2 miles) and drive back. If I see something I like for a good deal, I buy it (if we have the money of course). This is also good for the boy because he HATES shopping and if I see something, I send him a picture message and he or it.

I'd say we generally spend about $200 a month between the two of us. Our worst spending habit? FOOD! OMG my boyfriend could easily spend a $100 a week on just meat (and expect me to make it every night). Our grocery bill is about $150 a week.

Meee too.... Banana Republic... Ann Taylor.... etc.! I'm a grad student, but next year (when I'm done), I will need to wear very professional clothes every day, so I justify buying dressy clothes as "work clothes for next year." Seriously though, once I have more of a wardrobe established, I will shop a lot less. I never buy casual clothes (because I've got enough jeans and tops!). And unfortunately, dressy, professional clothes are a lot more expensive than casual clothes.

Actually, I am such a weird size that if I find something that fits really well (particularly dress pants or jacket), I will buy it because it's such a rarity.

I spend in spurts. Like, I will go 6-9 months without buying anything and then I will suddenly realize I need several things and head out on a shopping spree. And by "spree" I really mean a possible expenditure upwards of $100-150. And then I feel guilty.

On the other hand, we have a "friend" (the wife of DH's friend) who will consistently drop $500-1000 on a pair of shoes or a new purse...every month . I want to cry when I think about everything I could buy with that money!

At most I spend £5-10 as I rarely by myself new clothing, I'll buy a t-shirt every now and then and a new pair of shoes every 3 months but other than that I make do with what I have haha.

I purchase very little for myself but DD likes to shop and always seems to need something. We are bargain/clearance shoppers so maybe $30 a month for her and then a couple of larger shopping sprees at $150-200 or so at the beginning of school and again in the spring. Just this week she needed a new bathing suit and a pair of sweats for the cold beach nights we've been having.

I take my spending on clothes and shoes for myself and DD in spurts. Lately I've spent about 50.00 total because there's just nothing out there I like. The only reason I spent 50.00 is because DD needed a new pair of khakis and new jean capris since she outgrew them. There are times when I will spend 500 in a month. It just depends. I'm a shoe junkie and so is DD so when we find cool shoes we love, we just buy them.

I buy clothes only when I go to the mainland as they are expensive/not existant on my island. I would say the average would be $20 a month or so.

I haven't spent too much in the past 5 years or so because I think the clothing that is being sold to the public is awful, plus I am not a size 0 and it seems like everything is designed for someone who is a size 0.

DD is right! I tend to like the classics with a few current pieces thrown in here and there.

When I have money to spend, I can't find anything I like. When I'm just browsing (broke) I tend to find lots of things I like. That helps with the budget. Once in a blue moon the stars are in alignment and I buy quite a bit. I don't go too crazy though. When I find something I like, I'm so glad, I'll buy several of the same thing in different colors.

It's hard to break it down to a monthly expenditure. I shop for the kids, DH, and myself, but it isn't a lot. I shop sales, fill in holes in the wardrobe so to speak. I usually have in mind what we need. If I find something I love, I'll get it whether we need it or not. For the kids I forecast and shop sales keeping the next year in mind.

A female VP where I work has the greatest wardrobe. Basically, what she does is buy fairly "classic" & very good quality basics...suits, pants & skirts in colors like black, navy, gray, khaki. The accessory pieces (tops, scarves, jewlery) are what she goes "trendy" on. She always says "I'd rather spend $20 on an animal print top than $200 on an animal print blazer which may be out of style next year".

Very smart and she always looks fabulously put together. I don't have the occasion to wear many "business" style outfits (nurse...I wear scrubs which is the equivalent of going to work in your jammies!), but I am trying to slowly "morph" my casual wardrobe into this, where I have all my "bottoms" (pants, capris, shorts) in the basic colors and then can do the fun stuff with the tops.
