How much do you spend on a typical trip?

Our family of 3 is spending $4000 (including dining plan, Wilderness Lodge, Alaska Airlines tickets from Seattle and 1 week base tickets plus one day at Universal) during Spring Break in 3 weeks. We're spending more than we usually do on accommodations because of the stay 4 nights, get 3 free deal!!

$3000-$7500 depending on length of trip, time of year, tickets etc.,.

Budget for next January's trip for 4 adults

airfare from Winnipeg - $2200 (if we're lucky)

What makes you think that you are doing something wrong?

It depends where you stay (onsite, offsite, value, moderate, deluxe), if you fly (and where from), how much money you spend on shopping, food, car (what type), where you go (Florida is not JUST DisneyWorld for some) etc. It also depends how many people are in your party.

If you went in September, why didn't you add the free dining plan?

Do you buy souvenirs? How much do you tip? Do you stay at a hotel the night before you fly out?

Everyone's standards on their vacation vary greatly. There is no right or wrong price.

You can spend as much or as little as you like on a vacation.

I just feel like were doing something wrong because we are only 2 adults and we ALWAYS stay at a value: POP, we tip the regular, no extra hotels or parking cost.:confused3 It seems that some people are travelling with 2 kids, etc, and are paying less, if not the same.

I think we may have to re-calculate our budgets :lmao: It's really nice to see that some Canadian's are going to WDW and their total cost wasn't that :scared1: .

That's a really good total for 4 people on March Break!!

Wow. We must be doing something wrong.

Last Sept. 08: Dbf and I went for 8 nights. Hotel (POP), food (no Dining plan), flight, insurance, shopping, Aqua Seas tour, Segway tour... i would estimate around 4-5 grand.

This Sept.09: Dbf and I again for 8 nights. Free dining which includes, hotel (POP), food, park tickets for 1600 cdn. then flight out of detroit 500cdn. Various tours/shopping we are going to estimate 3000.

Am i doing something wrong?

I agree with LSmith. Everyone has different wants and needs on vacation. For me it's now a hobby to make everything as cheap as possible. Especially after I tallied up our first major trip in 2005. however, because we travelled with a group a lot of that was out of my hands.

To save money we:
eat breakfast in the room
make a few sandwiches for lunches or dinner
only have 1 or 2 TS dinners
book the AAA rate for the room (saves 10-20%)
use points for park tickets
fly only if it costs around $600 for 4 tickets (from BUF)
only book a package if it will cost less than ala carte ie:free dining
pre-buy t-shirts at DS when they have a sale
