how much do WDW cakes cost?

Yes for customs I believe it is $1.70 pp for cutting. The custom cakes range from about $500. to over a thousand dollars. Cheap side would be $8.50 pp but most ( not all) have a minimum order of 50 people.

Yes my mad hatter **dream** cake is $975 + service fees, well worth it because it's so me! I kept trying to downsize it or go with a different cake but I wouldn't be happy.

My 'bow lovers' cake is around $905, I think that's outrageous but I feel like it's a traditonal part of the wedding, so we're gonna keep it in!! :p

Our cake was just about $700. It was a 50 person cake and it was the Destination Castle cake. It was definitely my dream cake :goodvibes

I might just serve a platter of Main Street Tollhouse cookies instead! My disney wedding is so non traditional I don't think it will matter! :)

I thought I would give you another “cake” option. It is a very fun option (but still somewhat costly).

I had a custom vow renewal in October of 2004. Here is some pricing information that I shared about the mini-cakes that were served at my dinner party :

I chose to have individual mini-cakes served to the guests at my custom vow renewal. On my final bill, the mini-wedding cakes’ cost breakdown was as follows:

Mini-Wedding Cakes charge was $625 ($25 per cake x 25 guests = $625)
Sales Tax charge for Mini-Cakes was $40.63
Gratuity charge was $173.75
Sales Tax charge for Gratuity was $11.29

When all was said and done, the cost for 25 miniature wedding cakes came to $850.67. That works out to $34.03 a cake.

I wrote about the cake selection process in my Planning Session trip report (click here and look for the posts # 243 and # 251 on that webpage). I gave links in those posts to photos of various wedding cakes, including the mini-cakes.

Here are two photos that I thought I’d share:
Photo # 1
Photo # 2

Photo # 1 shows one of the mini-cakes that was actually served at my dinner party. I should note that each mini-cake came decorated with different colored Mickey heads (orange, lime green, purple, etc.). I specifically asked for “black” Mickey Mouse ears to be placed atop each mini-cake (otherwise Disney would have dyed the ears to match the Mickey heads).

Photo # 2 should give you an idea of the mini-cake’s size. If you look at that photo, you will see that a mini-cake was slightly taller than a coffee cup. It was a single-serving portion, therefore each guest needed their own mini-cake.

I hope this helped. Again, the option is still somewhat expensive, but it is a very fun option that should bring a smile to your guests’ faces.

Janet--those mini cakes are adorable!! They are perfect for the Oz setting too, I think!

Thanks. And one of these days I hope to post photos of the "ruby slippers" that were sitting at each place setting. They were red (white) chocolate slippers. Too cute for words. Disney certainly knows how to embellish a place setting (one of their outside vendors handled this for my dinner party).

Snow_White, I just placed a series of photos in my on-line album:

Wicked Witch Of The East's Ruby Slippers
Dessert Party's Ruby Slippers
Ruby Slippers On Yellow Brick Road
Land Of Oz Place Setting
Ruby Slippers Wrapped In Cellophane

Pintradingwedding, cake isn’t the only option when it comes to dessert. Disney has plenty of desserts in their repertoire: crème brulee, fruit tarts, cheesecake, mousse, cobbler, ice cream, and so on. And don’t forget that a favorite dessert with Disney brides is the Cinderella’s Slipper dessert. That was one of the desserts that was served at my Summerhouse party : click here. For wedding events that dessert is usually served with a side of mousse. The dessert is beautifully presented on a plate that is silk-screened with a castle. Hopefully, someone will share a photo of this since the dessert is quite lovely.

What if you buy a cake and you cut it and pass it out yourself -- then is there no 'cake cutting fee' ? Listen to me being so cheap!!! Or can you get a normal desert for everyone and then just a tiny little symbolic wedding cake -- with mickey and minnie on top or the castle or whatever? :)

I'd like to know about the cutting the cake yourself, as well! Also, is it possible to get a smaller cake for less than 50 people? I'm having a custom wedding but there will only be 25 - 30 people and I think it's immoral to waste that much yummy cake! LOL

If I have to I will skip the wedding cake seeing as we're having a dessert party anyway, but if it's possible I'd still like a small one.

Can you have the individual cakes with a lower # of people. My VR will be less than 20 I'm quite sure. I like the individual cakes. Do you get any choices with that setup? like filling and cake?

In the past, you used to be able to supply your own cake and then Disney would charge you a cake-cutting fee (per person). However, that changed a few years ago. Disney needs to be in control of the food that is served at their events. If an outside cake is brought in, Disney is not in control of that cake and thus if anyone came down with food poisioning, Disney could be blamed. That is probably one of the main reasons that the rules changed in regards to non-Disney cakes.

There is a Cast Member who posts on this board. Hopefully, this Cast Member will chime in with the current Disney policy, but my understanding is that no outside cakes may be served.

I believe this can be done. Check with your Event Manager.

Search the boards. I believe the answer to this question is yes. I'm pretty sure that the Cast Member posted about an option for smaller cakes at events with smaller guest lists. Check with your Event Manager for the final word, though.

I don't know if there is a minimum number of mini-cakes that must be ordered. Please check with your Event Manger about this.

I wrote about the cake selection process in my FTW VR Planning Session trip report: click here. On that page, in posts # 243 and # 251, I described what I went through during my planning session. You might find it interesting (I have links in my posts to photos which ~hopefully~ still work).

I believe our was in the $800 ball park. I vaguely remember that we were initially quoted $11.50 a slice but it was closer to $13.50. For that price we should have just gone with the Mad Hatter cake like DH wanted. :rotfl:
