How much did you spend on your tweens back to school clothes?

I think I spent maybe $20 on my 13 DD. She got 4 shirts for that. Doesn't need new pants yet and we will wait for cooler weather to add to it. That is all she wanted/needed

When DD was still in school we waited until the back to school stuff all went on sale after school started. She was wearing shorts and tees for the first few weeks of school anyway. Maybe one nice outfit for the first day, if she wanted it.

My ds11 will need all new pants. He currently has one pair of jeans that fit, and two pairs of track pants.. and those each have a hole in the knee. So I'm guessing 5 or 6 pairs of pants. He has been in shorts all summer and outgrew his pants in the meantime. He also went to sleep away camp this summer and left his two nicest hooded sweaters up at camp so we will need a few more hoodies, and maybe three or four other long sleeve shirts. He will also need one new pair of shoes for gym/indoors, and new basketball shoes. Oh, and probably a few things for b-ball practice/gym. So basically.. a bit of everything.

We've been so busy getting dd ready to leave for University and buying all her dorm things etc that we haven't purchased anything for ds yet. Like other posters, I will wait for some sales and cooler weather and then take him out one weekend and try to get most of it done at once. I am hoping to stay in the $300 range but two pairs of shoes are going to make that tricky. It's just so much at once this time.

We, too, have never done back to school shopping--I shop the sales. Von Maur, a midwest upscale dept. store, does mark downs constantly & I scour those racks for the 75% off items. (I have gotten Under Armour, North Face, Bugatchi shirts for DH, Ralph Lauren for DS20--I can dress him in frat gear for a fraction of the price!) We have a Kohls card for basics--but everyone knows I need a promo to buy!

DS15 was always sport gear guy--and mostly hand me downs from DS20 (great for HS gear!) He came to me right after school started & said he needed khakis shorts & Vans. LOL--took DS20 until the end of his senior year to get that fashionable. But $100 for 4 pair shorts & a pair of Vans from Kohls (plus $20 Kohls cash) is pretty cheap considering he gets the fewest new clothes in the house!
