How much better is Preferred Parking?

Since it's only $5 more, we're considering it... will it save us time in getting to the parks? How busy is it usually in the mornings? We'd like to be there for park opening so how far ahead would you plan to leave from Disney?

If you are arriving early for rope drop, and unless you are going during the very busiest weeks of the year, I wouldn't bother paying for it. We have been there by 9am and gotten parked as regular parking in same lot as my brother got 2 hours later when he got there paying preferred (our cars were 5 aisles apart when we left for the day). Any parking would be in the garage, and there are moving walkways/escalators, etc. going into Citywalk anyway, so not gaining much if anything. The only really faster/shorter way is to valet park.

Agreed. If you're getting there early, preferred parking wouldn't be much (in any) better than normal. Save a few bucks and buy an extra Butter Beer.

Preferred parking is located on the third level which is on the same level as the moving walkways. It's not closer to the parks than any other level. I used to pay the additional fee to park in Preferred but stopped. It's just not worth it to me any more.
