How many different scrapbooks do you currently have? what are they all for?
I have to count when I get home. I do know that i have one for my dogs/pets, one for Halloween, one for Christmas, one for DD as a baby, one for dd as toddler, one for miscellaneous pics, one for our Magic elves, one for Disney. These are all started. Then I have some that are empty. I'm just curious as to what everybody else has. I don't see many when I see pictures of everyones scraprooms/spaces.

40 ish 12x12 full and still in my posession. around 2 dozen small to minis. Cookbook, in progress, current cruise album kitted and ready to roll, work in progress album - obviously in progress until full. and about 6 or so blank albums in my stash waiting to fill.

I have 15 12x12 finished on the shelf, full no more room for pages.

6 12x12's in progress.

I do a "family album" that has pics of everything, Halloween, Christmas, other events etc. These are mine.

Each vacation gets a separate album. since it always takes a whole album to hold them.

I do one for each DD starting in utero :) and goes chronologically to date (if i can get it up to date) :rotfl: and includes pics from vacations and everything else. so when they grow up and leave they can have pictures of everything. and I wont roll over in my grave when they rip my albums apart because there wont be a reason too. I know super OCD huh?

Then the two DD's that dance have separate dance albums. Since its just easier to do all that at the end of the year.

I have no idea how many blank ones ready and waiting I have, Id say around a dozen, but they are all earmarked for something. DD's each have a specific color, purple, pink and red so I buy them when I find them.

I have 12 chronological from the beginning of my pregnancy with Megan , one for each year, I am caught up to 2010

1 6x6 santa picture album

these are all 12x12

2 xmas both full
1 dance that is full
1 AK cruise
1 NYC trip
2 bDay's both full
1 disney cruise
10 WDW/DLR trip albums
1 of DH from birth to our meeting

I have 38 12x12s that are finished (approx 90-100 pages each):

Wedding
Baby thru 13 for each DD
School for each DD--still in progress until graduation
Each year since 1996
3 WDW trips and a DLR trip(these each have 2 books)
Christmas--19 years completed
Family portrait album
and other misc. albums

I also have 9 7x7 WDW autograph albums and several smaller albums completed.

I have about 15 12x12 albums waiting to be filled (don't tell DH I have an album stash;))

Have approx. 18. One for each year since I started scrapping, the rest are of our vacations.

Our albums are stored on an antique wooden hotel desk that is in our living room. No room in my girl cave for them. :)

Oh boy, let's see.

1 for Christmas
1 for the dog
1 for the wedding
4 for the kids ABC Disney books
1 for 2009 (did a 365 album)
1 for Disney over flow pages, will eventually become an ABC book

3 SDV albums
1 for DD's solo trip to WDW
3 circle journals
1 autograph album (my personal one)
3 mini albums for the boys

1 animal album
1 heritage album
5 Disney albums made up of 3 trips
2 family albums (not completed)
MIL's high school scrapbook
DS14's personal album
and 3 binders that the kids did at school in 3rd grade

34, cool! Never knew I had that many!
Plus one I made for DH but he carries that with him in his bag. I need to make a new one though, this one is 4 1/2 years old.

I also just found an 8x8 album that has complete pages in it (must have been a swap) but no pics.
I will change that soon though!

Bernardandmissbianca - would you explain these a little bit? I'm very interested in different kinds of albums and new ideas. I was at a scrapbook "party" where we kind of learned some of the "rules" of scrapping and it was all very traditional pages with NO MORE THAN 3 PHOTOS ON A PAGE. I never followed that and always had my pages frowned upon because i didn't limit it to only 3. So I'm always interested in seeing different ideas.

OK, here's my list:
1 -- Christmas
1--Halloween
1-Christmas Elves
1 - DDs first day of school and other pics from school
1 - DDs baby book
1 - DDs little girl book
1- Miscellaneous pages
1-Pets, mostly my dogs
1 - vacations, day trips, etc.
1 - our wedding
1 - other weddings in the family - my brother, my BIL, cousins,
1 - old family photos - I was able to get all of my grandmothers pics, my grandfathers pics and my MIL's pics and made an "old B&W" book
1- Disney - in progress
1 -- DD9 is working on her own book and is doing a great job!

Empty --
1 - DSs baby book
1- DSs toddler/little boy book
1 - DS 1st days at school and school pics
3 - other books
2- DDs empty books
1 - 5x7 (?) for Halloween, pre-made just add pics
1 8x8 for Christmas, pre-made just add pics
(not sure how to begin the smaller ones, hopefully I'll get some ideas for some of you)

Total -- 14 books started or complete, 10 empty and calling my name to begin!! LOL

I know, I'm a terrible mom, DS is 3 1/2 and I haven't started his books! As soon as Disney is finished, I'll start on his!

would you mind describing the 7x7 albums and the other smaller albums? what do you put in the smaller ones? What would you use a smaller one for that you wouldn't use a 12x12? I'm not being rude, but I have a couple small albums and I'm not sure what to do with them. They are the ones you just put the pics in and they are so cute, I just haven't got a clue how to pick certain pics for them. I'm just trying to get new ideas.

My husband and I both have childhood albums that our moms made, DH has his in his possesion, but my mom isn't finished with mine yet. All in all with just those albums we probably have 15-20. Then we have our wedding album that is 12x12. I didn't end up doing one for our honeymoon but I plan to put some pictures in our wedding album of the honeymoon. I have two pages left to do with my 2009 Disney trip, and I am currently also working on our 2010 trip. 2009 has 3 editions and 2010 will probably have that too. I also plan on making a "family album" from the time that DH and I first started dating until present, but I want to finish this trip first, or maybe I'll just start on that one. I am also going to make a 50 states album with pictures of when we visited that state and the state quarter and some other items about the state.

The autograph albums--character specific decorations (borders, stickers, paper piecing) on 2 pages, then the character signs one page and I put the photo on the facing page.

The others basically a smaller traditional page set up. For things that don't need 12x12 pages ie the girls week spent at outdoor lab school; DDs puppy book (for her puppy's first year); memorial book for our puppy that died; DD2s first couple books she made by herself when 12x12 was too overwhelming for her. You can see the pages from DDs puppy book on the virtual thread at the top of the scrapbooking forum.

I really didn't start scrapping until 2007ish... So what I am doing is going through all my old albums (I was going to re-do everything..but I was just overwhelmed and stressed out over this project)and I'm going to "blend" them with a little scrapbooking... I'm going to go through and put in 4x6 scrapbook decorated dividers w/ the event information and also journalling boxes. This will happen from 1993-2006.

Wow! That is a lot of scrapbooks...but they are full of memories..and my family loves to look at them... Guess I should stop typing on here and get back to work!!

Confession time......here's what I have done:

0

Can that be right? I have enough stuff to fill a bazillion books, but none of them are finished. Most of them aren't even started.

I have started a baby book for each of my three boys and they are done up to age two. As you can see by my signature - they are seriously not up to date. I also have two WDW books started, and I have my oldest son's Boy Scout book almost done. But I have officially finished......NONE :scared1::scared1::scared1: Oh no, I can't believe I'm saying this but I fear my DH may be right - I am a hoarder (at least when it comes to scrappin stuff). I think I have a fear of acually using stuff. Love to make the pieces, but never use them. Swap pieces actually used = 0. Not because I don't love them because I really do. I love to get the pieces out and look at them and touch them, but my fear of using them and then not being happy with what I've done is always there. My mind says...."If you use it and then aren't happy and have to tear it apart it will be ruined and then it won't be able to be used again." I need therapy. Any words of wisedom to help this sister out? Wow....this is crazy.

4 for the kids ABC Disney books
For Christmas (but they got them after) I did a 12x12 compilation album for each kid of all of our Disney trips, using an ABC format. So for DS14 A was Asia, B was Big Brother etc. I intend to take pics but 26 letters x 4 albums is a time consuming effort.

1 for 2009 (did a 365 album)
Project 365 is an idea from Becky Higgins. Instead of having 8 zillion photos of one event and then nothing for the months between events, she takes less pictures but takes them more often. Her challenge was 1 picture a day for an entire year. Spin off of these albums are Project 52 (weeks) and Project 12 (months). The album I used was the adjustable picfolio album from Creative Memories. I knew if I did traditional scrapping I would have never gotten it done so I used this album because you can slide the photos right in. Each 2 page spread was 1 week.

2 for Disney over flow pages, will eventually become an ABC book I tend to over print pictures but hate to purge them so I was using extra photos to make 1 page spreads using the same ABC format I use with the kids.
Here is a link to the ABC thread we have here on the DIS.

3 SDV albums
SDV is a scrapbook retreat that used to be at Disneyworld, Those are 8 x 8 albums from the trip.

3 circle journals
A circle journal is like a quilting bee. You and a group of friends (we usually do 12) create an album each, then do 2 pages in it, then mail it on to the next person in the circle. They do 2 pages and mail it on again, etc until it comes back to you completed. You pick the theme for your album but everyone has something different. 3 of mine are Life's Little Luxuries, It's the Little things that Count, and Pieces of Me. You always mail on the same person.

and 3 binders that the kids did at school in 3rd grade
the 3rd grade teacher does a 3 ring binder book for every kid in her class, which includes special events, reports, homework, and photos she takes in class. Each binder is a 3 inch binder from Staples.

Plus one I made for DH but he carries that with him in his bag. I need to make a new one though, this one is 4 1/2 years old.
I made DH a brag book with a 2 page layout of each kid. He travels about 45-50 weeks a year so he takes the book with him. It's just a little 5x5 book.

I also just found an 8x8 album that has complete pages in it (must have been a swap) but no pics.
We had done a swap here that was a 8 x 8 ABC album. Apparently I put the pages in a book without pictures. They were a 2 page spread for each letter.
I will change that soon though!

I never followed that and always had my pages frowned upon because i didn't limit it to only 3. So I'm always interested in seeing different ideas.

First off there are no rules to scrapping. That puts a bee in my bonnet! The only rule I abide by is using supplies that will keep my pictures safe.

I use various items, oh one album I forgot about was a paper bag album PrincessNancy did for DS9 of his Flat stanley's trip to Indiana! Anyway, I use various size albums, I use chipboard albums, paper bag albums, I even have the Starbucks cup cozies for an album. I love love love to take pics so I have on average 8 - 20 photos in a 12x12 2 page layout.

I did get grief from a CM rep once because I used non CM papers and tools but whatever. I ignored her!

(not sure how to begin the smaller ones, hopefully I'll get some ideas for some of you)

I know, I'm a terrible mom, DS is 3 1/2 and I haven't started his books! As soon as Disney is finished, I'll start on his!

8 x 8 and smaller are pretty easy to work with. You either hone down the number of pics or crop them like crazy.
Lately I've been using my iPhoto (you can also use Picasa) to make collages. So I'll put 2 pics on a 4x6 and I get 2 4x3 photos on one sheet. I then cut those out individually and use those. You can also do 4 2x3 photos on a 4x6 sheet.
I don't scrap a lot in 8 x 8 because I do like to use a lot of photos but these are some pretty themed specific albums.

Don't feel bad about your son's album! My oldest was born in 1996 and I am currently in 1997. :rotfl2:

I am also going to make a 50 states album with pictures of when we visited that state and the state quarter and some other items about the state.

That sounds cool!!! I would love to do this!

I have the same fear, what if I screw up and used amazing pieces with ho hum photos. We've all been there!
My biggest piece of advice is to kit you pages. Then lay everything out before you glue the first piece down. Don't over think it!! Who cares is your BFF from the 4th grade likes your page!! Do you like it? Does it bring you joy when you see these handcrafted elements made by your soul sisters combined with loving pictures of your family??? That's what it's about. No one, and I mean NO ONE is going to look at those pages 20-30-50 years from now and say, well she really should have used Red instead of Blue. Nope, your kids and grandkids are going to see that you cared enough to record your family history. To see that you lived!

We had big drama come from a Creating Keepsakes contest a few years back, and my fleeting moment of clarity was this (I made sure I wrote it down because you know the brain is a sieve after 4 kds):

My life doesn't not revolve around my scrapbooks. My scrapbooks revolve around my life.

Food for thought.......

WOW!! thanks Bernardandmissbianca!!! That's alot of good ideas. I like the 365 album and the ABC album. I wish I had the kinds of teachers that would do those albums! I'm probably too late to do ones for DD 4k-3rd but I could start with DS who starts 4k in August. I need to look in my closet for stuff from DD. My mom made one scrapbook for all 3 of us kids together. little notes, pictures we drew, photos etc. That was her one and only scrapbook. One more question....on the circle book, do you send your own photos and the next person chooses which ones they scrap? how do they do the journaling?
Thanks for sharing all your ideas!!

On the circle journals each person does a layout using their own pictures that fit the theme. So the ones I posted pics of were my cover page, sign in page, and rules page.
DH did the 2 pages with the car. his pics, his paper, his layout, his journaling. the next 2 pages with the milk truck were mine. So say you were the person I mailed to, you would get my book, see the pages DH and I did, then you would add 2 of your own of your favorite luxuries.

Clear as mud right??!?

NO RULES! That (IMHO) is the ONLY rule of scrapbooking!!! It is PERSONAL and it is ART... hence, no rules!!

For the person who commented on being afraid to use swap stuff for fear of ruining it, I have one comment..... Un-DU!! Scrappers best friend. ;)

Finished albums....

12 for DD's life (1995 thru 2005 completed)

7 for DS's life (1998 thru 2005 completed)

WDW 2002 - 1 for each child

WDW 2004 - 2 for each child

DisneyLand 2005 - 2 for each child

Washington, DC 2006 - 1 for each child

mini-album for DH's birthday a few years ago

gardening album for DFather (ongoing, but two full albums so far)

Project 365 album for 2009

That is 34 completed albums that I can think of.... not including gift albums that are no longer in my possession (8 that I can think of).

"In progress" albums.....

2006 for each child

2010 WDW trip for DS

Life album for DMom

Third volume of gardening album for DFather

2011 Project Life album

That is 6 more albums.

I store them in my bedroom NEAR my scrapping area, but not actually in it... that is why you don't really see it in my photos.

Interesting question!...............P

i must admit that I found 4 more last night. :guilty:

3 ring binder type book -- empty
wedding book -- empty
6x6 travel book -- empty
Army scrapbook with all of DH's "stuff" from his army days.
