We go (my son and I) to Disney every Sept/Oct for the past 5 years. We got back Oct 10th 2006 this time. How many times a year would you go to Disney if you had the $ means to go?
I just dont want it to be overkill, and just go too much.

We usually do another trip to somewhere else each year (ie: mexico) , but . . .

Let me know your thougths . . .

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I don't think once a year is too much.

My ds will be 4 in April. He's been to WDW 6x since he was 13mos, and we took him to DL 3x between 2-1/2 and 3 (just before he turned three - it was his last time getting in for "free"). He loves it.

Of course I don't think we'll keep up this pace, but it certainly has been fun while it lasts! :cool2:

Hi!!

We usually go for 8 or 9 days at a time.

We didn't discover WDW until 2004, wish we had sooner:

2004....1 trip
2005....1 trip
2006....2 trips
2007....3 trips (now we're DVC members!)

My kids, & even DH, love it!!
We don't think of it as overkill at all.

What about considering other parks for a few years? DL, Six Flags, Cedar Point, etc? You would probably both enjoy a break from Disney, and trying out something new. Maybe alternate Disney with the other parks?

It really depends on your level of obsession, er, I mean *enjoyment* of Disney. My first trip was in 1983 for my 18th b-day and I fell in love with all things Disney. My next trip was in 1985, but it wasn't a happy one (abusive ex-h, preggers). I took my older 2 DDs in 1993 as my graduation from college gift (they were 7 & 5) and then we had a 10 year stretch of nothing. We won a trip from Kellogg's in 2003 and that was what started me down the slippery slope. B/c of the logistics, I bought an AP for myself that trip and put it to good use. in 2006, DDs and I went twice, and in 2007, there are 3 trips in the works. Money *IS* an object at our house, but I am very fortunate to be able to plan the trips around conventions I vendor for anyway.

BTW, the DD that was 7 in 1993 is turning 21 today and is a full-time CM at WDW. The one who was 5 is now 18 and is at WDW right now getting ready to begin the College Program as a WDW CM. I think we have a pretty high level of "enjoyment", so 2-3 times a year would work for us.

We only do one family vacation a year, due to financial considerations. We enjoy deluxe resorts and having a rental car, which drives up the cost of the trips. Even if we could go more often, we probably wouldn't. Once a year is about all DH is prepared to do (and he *says* that 2007 is the last trip for a while). We go in August to hit value season and to go while the kids are still on summer vacation. Other times of year don't work for us because DH won't take kids out of school for vacation, and I won't go during super duper crowded times like February and April vacations.

I would, however, LOVE to book a "me only" trip to WDW sometime....but that's just wishful thinking.

We have two trips planned for this year (and did two last year). I have made a reservation for another trip in May 2007 for my dd's 5th birthday.

However, I am thinking that I will cancel it since I really think two trips in a two month span is enough for our family. Maybe we'll go again in the fall or next year. I don't want to go so often that it isn't "special" anymore.

When I was a kid, going to Disney was a really big deal vacation...we went just a few times over the course of my childhood paced out over a number of years. Dh and I are now DVC members and my father (now the grandparent) says "I've never heard of treating Disneyworld like a backyard playground". However, he says this in good spirit and they are coming with us in March.

Anyway, I would say 2-3 times is plenty for us and we'll probably limit it to something annual once they kids are older (now they are almost 2 and 4). We're trying Disney's Hilton Head resort this summer. It has nothing to do with themeparks, but it will be fun and of Disney quality.

We live just 45 minutes from Cedar Point, so we'll do that as a "Saturday" thing when they are older. However, Cedar Point is a themepark....not a resort- and we go for the "resorting" as much as for the parks themselves.

To each their own! Do what's right for you and your budget!

Only have a budget for "big trip" vacations every other year (we drive to visit relatives on the other ones) but would definitely think of going once or even twice a year if funds were unlimited! I'd love to try all the different resorts, the cruise, DL, etc.

But I think your plan (OP) of one trip to Disney and one somewhere else each year is really good - you're building a tradition and also learning about new places.

We went twice in 2006 and will go twice in 2007 because of our new DVC membership. About every 6 mos is good enough for me.

If we had the money means and the time, we would go at least once a year. We won't be going for a while because we are in the process of buying a new home. We just went in the beginning of the month as our last trip for probably 2 yrs. I would like to go when my youngest son can wait more than 5 minutes in line. We do love it though. Maybe we'll get lucky and win a trip. :lmao:

We did (from Kellogg's, 4 nights at Grand Floridian, 4 day hoppers, airfare, transfers, and $100 Disney Dollars)! just make sure you *enter* and check your spam folder!!!

I go two times a year. We wait for any special deals, go the slowest time of the year and try to save a little money to spend for it. We have been doing this for 10 years. Several times on the spur of the moment we have been able to go three times in a year. We have been very lucky.

If money was no option we would go at least once a month.

Well let me see if I had the money I would live there! My dd is 2.5 and has gone to disney 5 times and we did the 11 night disney cruise! We are going back in two days for two weeks with a 3 night disney cruise. We like to go at least twice a year for about two weeks each trip. We bought DVC our first trip with DD. This will be trip # 3 for DS1 We would have gone more but our son was born very sick with a number of major med problems! To be honest I am feeling a little sick that I don't have my next trip lined up already!

That's great. Going to Disney is the best, but going for free makes it that much more magical.

I don't think those places even compare to Disney, especially Six Flags. If money were not and issue I would love to go to Disney twice a year for a week each time. We usually go once a year for 8-9 days. My DH only gets about a week off from work so we only get one vacation but I would love to go on a cruise or to the Caribbean.

I would like to go more often but if it means staying longer I'll take more time between trips. we did 1 trip for a week, then 1 yr later another for 3 days then 20 months later, a 10 day trip.
Now DH says I need to wait 5 years, I told him he was crazy and am planning a trip for Oct/ Sept 2008. It will be a 7-8 night trip b/c I'll be pulling DD out of school for it. I can't see waiting 5 years to go again, we will miss all the best kid years, the youngest would be 7 by then! If we were having more children I might deal with it but we are not and I am missing Disney already!

We go once or twice a year. If we buy AP's we definetly go twice a year for 6 - 8 night trip each time. It is such a great trip with little ones. We do go other places too but always want to go back for more Disney! :)

We leave Jan. 30th for our next trip. It will be DD's 10th trip at age 6 and DS's 5th trip and he is 2! Guess we are accelerating the amount of our trips! :)
