How many times have you added-on and did you regret it?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to do a SSR add-on but I'm more hesitant than my original and 1st add-on. Actually, I had no doubt either time before but this time I'm questioning my judgement and I can't really put my finger on what my issue is. We always use all our points each year and I'm 100% sure if I needed to rent points out some year that I would have no problem, I'm equally sure that the prices of the rooms are going to go up so DVC will continue to be a good deal. Can anyone out there relate? I'm thinking it must be old age.

TIA,
Alice

Added on once to my OKW contract and three times to my BCV contract.

Might do another add-on to the OKW contract this year.

I look at the reasonableness of the added points each time.

We did one add-on to our Boardwalk points when they were closing out BW and have never regretted it! Now the next add-on may be a little more difficult for DW :)

Just did an add on (SSR) a couple hours ago. Thought I would take advantage of the soon expiring offer. Too early to tell if there will be regrets, but I don't expect so. My wife and I have already figured out how to spend the extra points for the next several years.

We also did an add on by adding points at VWL. Definitely no regrets there. Our 2005 Christmas trip was magical.

I'm clearly the wrong guy to ask this question :teeth:

Original purchase was an OKW resale via TTS & Jason.
Then a BWV (Sep. UY) reasle again from the TTS and Jason. (before our first trip home)

Then an SSR add-on when Disney gave free annual pass vouchers, and 2 years worth of points, and a discount.

Then 2 additional SSR add-ons when Disney gave 2 years worth of points, a free year of Maintenance Fees, and 100 Bonus Developer Points, and a discount.

Then I lost a VWL resale to ROFR.

Then I added on VWL direct from Disney (to 'console' my ROFRing)

Then I got BCV add-on from Disney at 89 a point, because I was on the waiting list for almost 7 months for my December UY, I believe it is now $92.00 for sold-out resorts. (This was actually cheaper than the most of the BCV contracts listed at the TTS at that time, cause I closed 2 weeks before my use year, and got the current UY points with a prorated MF and 2 weeks later this years UY!)

Then I just added a OKW resale at $73.00 pp April UY. Once again Jason and Tom of TTS who, as always were great!

Any regrets, nope, not a one!

We've done three add on's for BWV and wish I could have talked to wife into even more points. Since we kept borrowing every year it showed that we could use them.

We've added on once. Finances hold us back when we get the 'addonitis'. But I have no regrets for the one add-on! Just as long as the magic still happens!!!

We have added on twice now. Original was for OKW in 1995, VB in 1997 (for beach cottage) and SSR in 2003 (for the extra years). I think we are done, but have never regretted a thing.

Bought an OKW resale from Pat @ TTSS in October 2002. Added on October 2003 with an SSR presale. Added on October 2005 more SSR points.

I think we are done for awhile ;) NO REGRETS!

We added on to our measly 50 pt contract with the current incentive @SSR. They allowed us 2 60pt contracts instead of the 120pt, and that was the clincher. We rented out the 2005 points we got with prorated MF's so we figure we got it for 73/pt. We are very happy!!!!

I just completed an add on and, unlike my financial portfolio, Im a believer in "keeping all my eggs in 1 basket". ;)

Yes...SSR is an attractive incentive..but..I'm not loooking to manage multiple contracts, booking, banking, borrowing headaches..IMHO.

I'm a planner and DO call @ the 7th month window when I want to change resorts.....and have had zero problems in all these years getting what I wanted. ::yes::

just one 50pt add on to our original 170pt BWV add on. absolutely no regrets. i wish we could add more but we will not finance so we'll add on when cash allows. 220pts is good for us right now.

like senecabeach, i am not tempted by the SSR offers as i am too lazy to manage all that ...also, my love for BWV is too great and i must have all my points in my 11m window.

We've added on, and on and on. We have 6 add ons, 550 points in 3 resorts, BWV, VWL and VB. At the present time, our '07 point total is only about 200, we've been borrowing like crazy.

We bought DVC for us, we are empty nesters, and don't care about the extra years SSR has to offer. However, "for us" means that we like to enjoy whatever years we can with family and friends in this truly Magical Place. That's the reason for the add ons. Our DS and DDiL have decided that they are ready to travel to Florida with us, and so, we'll have 4 generations with us at VWL in August, that's worth every dollar DVC has cost us.

I think we're finished adding on. There are other places we will be going to with family. We are happy that we did the add ons the way we did, we have smaller contracts (25) and the largest is BWV 200, so selling them can be done in stages if that ever is necessary.

We have been DVC members for a year now and have added on twice so far. You should always do an add on if you think that you will use the points. You can always rent them but you do not get your real value back on them. By the time you add in dues, amortize your original up front point cost and your mortgage interset (or if you paid cash a typical rate of return you could have gotten on your money) most people would have to rent for well more than $10 per point to come out better than placing the money in a CD.

We bought 200 pts at BWV in 2000 and shortly after that we added 25 pts to that. Then we bought 225 pts at BCV. Then 125 were added to BWV when they became available. Now we bought 125 at SSR. I have NEVER regretted any of the points we purchased.

We purchase OKW and have added on three times. Only regret we have is not being able to do another added on!!!!!

WDW here we come!!!!
Debbie

Added on twice to our original OKW contract.

Also bought at BCV and have added on 3 times there.

Never a moment of regret

We initially bought 150 points at OKW in August 2000 (closing October 2000). We then added on 32 points at BCV in April 2002 (closing after resort opened in July 2002), 32 points at OKW in April 2003, and 60 points at HH in October 2004. I don't regret any of the add ons in general, but if there is any one add on that I might have some regrets about it would be the BCV add on. We added on to be able to have enough points to do the Disney cruise on points (that, at the time, was cheaper than doing the third person via cash and we then had the points for another about 40 years, too) and BCV was really the best choice since OKW points were not available at the time (we went on the waiting list for OKW points and they didn't come available for another year, hence the 2003 add on at OKW when the points became available). With the BCV add on, looking back I probably would have done a larger add on (and perhaps forgone the add on at OKW a year later?). I like OKW and I like the point structure and dues structure there and like having it as our primary home resort, but the 32 points at BCV makes using the 7 month window almost essential to avoid a significant amount of resort hopping at the high season times that we tend to travel. That said, we just returned from a nice Christmas/New Year's trip where we were able to spend 3 nights at BCV with 2 studios each night followed by 6 nights at OKW in 2 studios by careful planning and aggressive use of the 7 month window to get additional nights at BCV after getting Christmas night at the 11 month window.

We really did some homework when we first bought into DVC and I guess we came up with the correct number. With 200 points, DH & I go twice a year for 1 week. With borrowing we are going to do a GV at OKW this Oct., but that is an exception. We can go back to our regular trips after that. We are perfectly happy with our 200 & I don't see any add-ons for us.
