How many times have the fireworks been cancelled while you were at Disneyland? Why do they cancel? I assume due to weather factors? This is my worst fear! We are going to DL on Nov. 17th and only for 1 day! We have our hearts set on seeing the holiday fireworks and snow (we have never seen it)! The last time we were at DL the firework show was cancelled and my daughter 4 year old DD was crushed! Hope everything goes well this time!

We go every winter, and each trip we've had the fireworks get cancelled at least half of the days we were there. It is a bummer too, because sometimes the weather is fine at ground level, but you can see the clouds moving and the tree tops swaying... those are sure signs that the fireworks may get cancelled. Each time the cancelled the fireworks, they still did the snow though.

OMG! Im so scared!! We really have our hearts set on seeing the fireworld!!!! :sad1:

If your only going to be there one day, you have a 50/50 shot at it, so I would go expecting not to see them, so your not disapointed, then if they do go, it's an added bonus....

When we were there for Thanksgiving 2005, the fireworks were cancelled 4 out of 5 nights due to winds. We aren't planning on seeing the fireworks when we visit for Thanksgiving this time either. If they go, then great, but we won't be disappointed if they don't.

I cannot actually recall the fireworks being canceled when we have been there. I do remember the time Fantasmic! was canceled...now that totally bummed me out.

Good advice. Im thinking of extending our vacation an extra day just to get a better shot of seeing the fireworks.

I was terrified of this for our September trip too! We were there Wed-Fri, so, like you..we only had one chance! I actually had nightmares about it!

It was windy on that Friday afternoon too...so I resigned myself to not seeing them..but then, oh lucky day!!! They went on..and they were astounding!!! I bawled like a baby!

I hope you get to see them! Sending you calm, windless vibes! :goodvibes:

Snow is not subject to wind cancellations, but the fireworks are unsafe if it is windy.

hmm, they cancel base on guest safety. THough if the fireworks are blown in the other direction, it can be a go.

Even if there isnt much wind, lots of high levelled winds. Usually, they will release a balloon and see how it does high up there...

DH and I were there last Sunday and they were cancelled about 3/4's of the way through. All of sudden they stopped the fireworks and pointed 3 lasers in the sky and I thought - wow, that's different:confused: Then they announced that due to upper level winds, they could not continue with the show. I was bummed, but I will say that what we did see - AWESOME:thumbsup2 . I will send pixiedust: pixiedust: for a no wind day:goodvibes

Have a great time.

Yikes I totally forgot about if they dont show how my daughter will react.. I better just tell her they aren't doing them, and if they do then yay!

In 12 trips I have had only had them cancelled one night. That was back in February of 2006. They kept coming on saying they might be cancelled, then they came on and said they were doing the show in ten minutes. Then they came on and said they were cancelled. We were sitting next to a couple from Scotland, their one and only chance to see them and I was bummed for them! Don't assume that if it doesn't feel windy (it didn't at all in our case) they won't be cancelled. The winds can be high up. Its a safety thing of course but always disappointing. And if they do cancel, be prepared to see people at their worst! The disappointment after a long day can make some people very nasty. I heard one man just completely ball out a cm using foul language, just made a bad situation that much worse for everyone around him.:sad2:

I would definitely tell your daughter they may very well not have them to prepare her. And I would definitely book another day, even if they cancel them both nights, you need to two days minimum to do the parks anyway.

If you see them the first night, see them by the castle. Then the next night, go back by Its a Small World. Much less crowded and they project some very cool projections on the exterior of the IASW building. So you'll sort of get two shows! If you only see them once, it should be by the castle however.

In June we had them cancel for most of our trip. My worst fear would be getting hurt if they didn't! So even though it's a bummer, I understand.
