How many times a year do your children get pictures taken in school?

It seems the normal amount is 2 times now.. once in the fall once in the spring.. well we are now doing winter photos next week.. with or with out Santa (its a winter backround). Even if your children dont get their pics taken with him (or at all) they can still talk to the big guy and give him their list. Packages aren't that expensive.. but really 3 times a year? When I was in school it was once a year! I guess when Anthony is in they'll have monthly pictures! :rotfl:

When I was a kid, it was once a year. Now the schools take Fall & Spring photos. I have no idea why!?!? I only buy the Fall one w/the class picture.

We have individual pictures in the fall and class pictures in the spring.

The pictures are just horrible and every year I say I'm not ordering them next year, but I keep ordering them. Every year I get goofy looking faces or non-smiling kids.

3 times a year is ridiculous.

My elementary dc just once, my ms dd twice.

I think we are scheduled for 4 times. Fall, Santa, Spring, and Class.

The fall ones also go into the cumulative records and the yearbook.

ETA: Actually 5 times, but the first picture they take of the school year is at the beginning of school for the ID badges. These are not packages for purchase though...just for the IDs and they keep it saved in the system in case a child loses it.

We do it once and that is enugh, lol. As far as pics with Santa:scared1: I can't even imagine the uproar that would cause around here. We can't even have a Christmas tree decoration-everything has to be 'winter decorations' I still don't get why it's ok for there to be menorah decorations though. Why can't there be both??? Why can't we all just get along?:rotfl:

We do 2x a year. Individual in the fall and then class pictures in the spring. There is a more "casual" individual spring photo.

What I hate is paying for them upfront. Sure you can get retakes if you don't like it but for the fall photos at least you have to pay before they are taken.

In pre-school they did them constantly
class photos
fall photo with pumpkins
winter (Christmas) with red and green packages and nutcrackers
spring with fake bluebonnets (it was Texas, what can I say)
an 'old time' photo package in the summer. Bare feet, overalls, in sepia with 'antique' props. At least there you didn't have to pay upfront.

In a way I understand the preschool doing so much since they were also a day care. They had the photos done at school so parents didn't have to worry about having them done after work or on already busy weekends.

We take the time to celebrate all religions and learn about them :thumbsup2 I'm sure if there was a Jewish Santa we'd have the option of having our pics taken with him.;) I will say when I went to the same school at least 95% of it was catholic so that might be a big reason why we still have Santa/Easter Bunny etc.

Once in uniform in the fall for the year book. They also do a class picture in the fall.

Once in the spring (free dress) with some terrible spring background. I hate pictures with those fake backgrounds so I never buy those.

They also do an optional santa picture in November.

Our school does fall and spring photos. Everyone gets a fall photo taken but only the kids who bring money get a spring photo taken. Last year, we ended up buying 4 photo packages for one of my sons: fall pictures, soccer pictures, baseball pictures and cast pictures for the spring musical. It was picture overload! I've learned to cut back and buy one of the smallests packages because we just don't use that many.

Photos being taken in school are a disruption to the school day, but doing it more than once a year is over the top, IMO. It's allowing a business to come in, sell their product during instructional time-not at all acceptable.

So far DGD has only had them done once.. I don't know if that will change now that she's in middle school, but I'm thinking it might once she's in high school..

We do fall and spring pics. I only buy the fall ones, they don't need 2 pics a year.

Twice a year, fall and spring. :) I like it personally. It's fun to see how the girls have changed over the year. :)

One time a year, a few weeks after school starts. Thats enough!

Your son is adorable! He got so big!:)

We have pictures twice a year fall and spring but we do have a holiday fair and we have a santa there and people can take their kids pictures there with Santa for free. The principal also dresses up like Santa and visits all the little kids classes the day before Christmas break. We have a Christmas Tree and a Menorah in the lobby at school.
