How many threads....but here is another on budget disney!
We have not been back since xmas of 2004. We are now 6(DH, Me, DD11, DS10,DS3,DD1) instead of 5. I am in need of a great Disney fix. So I am looking at Oct 2007. I priced out 5 nights at por w/ 5 day MYW base tickets at 1992.00
I priced out 5 nights sun-friday at BW at 90pts x$10 =900
Another 950 for tickets
100 per day food allowance
500 travel expenses=gas/lodging with realtives in GA on the way down so I only need a room around tenessee/kentucky on way back and packing a cooler both ways so food will be minimum.

The POR version is 1992.00 plus 500 travel 500 food=2992.00
The BW version is 900 for 1bdrm 950 for 5day MYW base tickets 500 food 500 travel = 2850.00

Which way would you go? Im really liking the BW version because of the mini kitchen, sitting area, king bed, epcot proximity, etc.
I like POR because of access to two themed pools and we dont go to water parks so this would be a nice alternative and it looks beautiful, rooms have seperate sinks so two can get ready at a time.....and I am nervous about renting DVC points from an owner

Opinion please. Other alternatives/suggestions welcomed. :Pinkbounc I trust the WDW veterans to guide me!

This will be our 3rd family trip and my 5th personal.

Thank you:love:

ETA: I am posting this on Family and Resort and Budget Boards, too. Hoping to get different opinions from the Dis masses!

Just me, but I would get two rooms at Pop Century, and tell them you are travelling with minors and request connecting rooms.

We loved it there, and I believe 2 rooms there is cheaper than the other options (though my computer is messing up so I haven't been able to check it out.)

We found it to be very comfortable, and we had 6 kids ages 11-1.
They will also supply a pack and play for your youngest upon request.

We also LOVED the cabins at Ft. Wilderness, but they have only one bathroom. 2 rooms at Pop are for sure cheaper than the cabins, but they are a fun alternative.

Happy to answer any other questions you might have!

I don't believe you can fit 6 people in a BWV 1 BR which is what I am assuming you requested. Even if you could, I don't believe they would allow it.

But if they do and you bring sleeping bags, do the BWV all the way. You have a full size fridge in which you can put your juices, water milk, etc away. You can eat breakfast every day in the room. The room also has a dishwasher and W/D.

It is the total way to go. You can walk to Epcot or MGM... With this capability, you could even walk back to the room and have lunch. Would save you big bucks.

Also, the quiet pool as well as the main pool are just wonderful. BW is a perfect location..

I love POFQ but If I had my druthers, I would definitely do BWV

I was thinking this too. How much more for a 2br.? Personally I like having a kitchen, W/D, privacy for Mommy & Daddy, etc. that comes with a condo or timeshare.

Six is too many for a DVC one bedroom. You can have four plus one under the age of three. And MS will allow you to have five over the age of three. But not five plus one under the age of three. You'll need a two bedroom villa for six.

We are staying off property at Marriott Horizons, my parents timeshare, mid October. It has turned into a great family vacation with my parents. They will be retiring this December 21st and I am so sooo looking forward to making great memories with them and our family/children. We stayed here in 2004 when we did our Universal vacation and it was sooo relaxing to take time out off property away from the crowds. To curl up in the evenings on the couch and watch a movie, do laundry.........

Someday I want to stay at Boardwalk and experience disney from that angle BUT this vacation wont be that one. :sunny:

I would look into the cabins at FW if you want to stay on property, and then definitely check out hotelkingdom.com for Cypress Pointe. I have stayed at this resort many times, and think the two bedroom would be wonderful for your family. It's just a few blocks away from Crossroads.

Wait a minute---has anyone thought to refer the OP to the new All Star Music Family Suites? I think it sleeps 5-6 and there are 2 tv's and 2 bathrooms...just my 2 cents...

Link to allearsnet.com FAQ page for the suites...looks like it sleeps 6:
