How many sets of dishes do you own?

Oh my gosh! I thought I was the only one who did this! LOL! :o I'm a dish/glass/stemware holic and I'm proud! :teeth:

Fine China -- one set with place settings for 12
Nice Everyday, but not fine China -- 2 sets of place settings for 4
Everyday dishes -- 2 sets of stoneware for 4, one set of Melamay (I think that's how you spell it, it's like hard plastic stuff :p ) one set of 4
Christmas Dishes, fine china -- one set with place settings for 12
Christmas Dishes, Disney -- one set of place settings for 4
Christmas Dishes, everyday stoneware -- one set of place setting for 4

And tons of assorted 1, 2, 3 or 4 set of plates, bowls, glasses etc.

Don't even get me started on glasses, stemware and china cups. :o

:teeth:

Everywhere ... WalMart, department stores, specialty stores etc. I always look at the plates, glasses etc. It's an obsession. :o Even flea markets/garage sales. :o

 I started to buy paper plates once and DH grabbed my arm and said, "How many sets of dishes do we have? You wanted 'em, you're gonna wash 'em! " He wasn't joking! :scared:

I have 1 set. We don't entertain so we have no formal sets. Plus, I don't have the space to keep another set.

Oh, I just remembered, we bought 1 holiday set for 8. I'll have to dig that one up for Christmas this year.

Saffron,

I'm putting your post at the top of my cut and paste list for DH. :teeth:

I know what you mean, We were walking through Dillards just yesterday and I slowed down to look at some really GREAT dishes - on sale even - my 5 yr. old said " mom, you know we don't need any more dishes" (She was headed for the Disney store and didn't want to stop) I never said I needed them - just might want them - and what's wrong with that. ;)

2 sets.
One everyday set.
And one Christmas/Winter set. :)

ilovepcot-- I have seen several styles of white dishes that I like but as I said about DH:rolleyes: -- This is the same man that had a 25 yo couch when we got engaged. Needless to say most of his 'stuff' was gone by the time I moved in.

We gopt our everyday dishes when we got married 12 yrs ago and I am getting a little tired on them. I would like a plain white/off white set that could be used on any tablecloth/holiday and look 'festive'. Maybe for our 15th.

Another dish lover here. Not counting the two "out of style" sets in the attic:

white every day dishes (service for 12)
fine china (service for 10)
yellow, burgundy, chartreuse and gray Ballerina ware (from the 40s) (service for 12+)
yellow Ballerina ware (service for 8)
Pennsylvania Dutch pattern Ballerina ware (service for 8+) (DH has actually collected this pattern from eBay.)
new sage green plates (10 - just bought these because I'm sick of white for every day)
various sets for fun salad plates

The funny thing about this thread is that in about an hour I'm going to sneak away from work and go to Crate and Barrel and buy some of those bright yellow dishes that they just came out with!

I'm always thinking thinking thinking, "Where can I put more dishes?"

Speaking of Pfaltzgraff, SC MINNIE..... have you seen their solid white set? Really nice and can be put in the microwave and have great serving pieces. They look great sitting on bright jewel colors such as tablecloths or placemats. Ask me how I know? ;)

I have, well had that set. (most of it broke along the way.) It is very nice. However, the way they were all breaking, I sent the half set to Good will. They appreciated it.

As for me. I now have

ONe sort of complete set of almost all white with blue trim from Ikea.

One set of Italian handpainted china (wedding present ).

I have some plastic plates too.

We don't do paper plates in the house.

One pattern with 12 place settings

1 set of everyday - service for 12

1 set of good china - service for 12

2 sets of tea service (tea pot, cups, saucers, small plates) service for 4 each. I inherited these from a Great Aunt.

1 set of Star Trek china (plate, cup saucer) - service for 2 that was given as an anniverary gift. Never really used but is on display in our china cabinet.

I have a thing for paper plates, we use them for snacks, but I like to buy them with the designs on them.

I have fine china ---service for 12

Everyday dishes ---service for 12

Stoneware dishes ---service for 8

Christmas china ---service for 24 . We use our Christmas dishes from the day after Thanksgiving until Three Kings Day. I need to buy more place settings because more and more people come to Christmas dinner.

Really good China White with real gold rim but not fine setting for 16

Everyday set of 8

Peir one festive set of 8

PS there is a darling set of dishes I've had my eye on for a while but after reading this......It may not be necessary....but then again they are awfully cute ;)

Actually 4. I own the set of everyday that we got when we got married. I own a set of china, I own a set of Christmas china, and I own a set of plain white dishes.

I told DH about all of the dishes that I am behind on and needed to catch up with some of you and he started to go blind again. This was not a good thing as he was driving on the freeway. LOL

Happy Thoughts to all,

mt2

I always look at the dishes. I think they are fun! Anyway, I only own three sets... my everyday dishes, a Christmas set, and my parent's china.

We still have our first set of Corelle dishes that we got when we got married - white with blue trim

Have a set of stoneware with strawberries on them

Another set of Corelle in light mauve with light blue trim

A set of Haviland china/serving pieces/crystal stemware

Oh, and the set of Corelle in the camper too

And I just bought another set of stoneware with Loons on them

And I inherited my Grandmother's china but it is still in boxes as I don't have a china cabinet to display them in :(
