Does anyone know how many rooms each resort set aside for Free Dining? I saw yesterday that someone posted about the Pop selling out, and I was curious how many rooms that meant.

Thanks!
Denise

I could be wrong, but I think it might have something to do with the # of rooms that were not booked at each resort to start with.

You're almost surely correct. The number of rooms set aside for any promotion is typically based on how much availability there was for that type of room at that resort for that time, and on forecasts of further bookings that the resort expects to get regardless of the promotion.

1) Send and email to Lamont Cranston.
2) He should be able to tell you.

Lamont Cranston was the 'dashing man about town' who was also known as "The Shadow" ("The Shadow Knows..") from the old radio serial.

I think what Rusty is getting at ... is that none of us can possibly know the correct answer to this question. And for that matter, anybody who could be the position to accurately answer, would be bound by employer confidentiality rules to keep their yaps shut.

Rusty - am I close here?

:)

That would be accurate.

See but here's my question many people, myself included pre-booked at POP and had to change to get the FDDP, so do you think all of those POP cancellations might open up some availability?

Well all I can say is not enough.:lmao:
I wanted any Value for aug 30 or 31 for 3 nights and could not get it.

I'm not sure about the other values, but Pop Century is sold out (for free dining) on August 31 and September 1.

I need PC for 8/26-9/4. No luck

I was able to book PC 8/26-8/31 and 9/2-9/5.

I'm going to call back on 4/23 and 4/26 to see if I can get the two nights (8/31 & 9/1) added to my reservation.

Disney Visa and general public deposits are due by the 22 and 25. I HOPE any packages that are canceled will be put back into the free dining pool.

Our friends had a standard view room booked at AKL for 9/22-29
When they tried to add on free dining, they were told that standard rooms were sol out and they'd have to upgrade to savannah view in order to get free dining...

Don't think of it as a certain number of rooms set aide, instead think of it as a percentage of rooms. It's going to be a different percentage occupancy for each TYPE of room at each resort. I have no idea what the actual numbers are, but just allow me to illustrate with an example.

Let's say that you can book a standard room with the free dining code at POFQ until POFQ standard rooms reach 80% occupancy for your travel dates. Once that 80% occupancy is achieved, they no longer need to offer a "sale price" and thus the standard rooms will be "sold out" for your travel dates.

So let's say for your travel dates that POFQ's standard rooms are at 95% occupancy. If one party who'd booked with free dining cancels their reservation, it's not like there will be a "dining code" room open, since that one room cancelation won't bring the occupancy rate below the 80% level.

Again, I have no idea what the numbers are, this was just to paint a picture for you.

My understanding is that there actually is a specific number of rooms set aside. That number of rooms might change (overnight, let's say) to adjust to other information (bookings using a different code or no code at all, changes in forecasts, etc.).

What you're noting, though, I think, is that canceling a promotional room doesn't put it back into its original (promotional) inventory. It goes back into general inventory (i.e., without free dining).

I certainly can't speak for other Disney Visa Holders... but in order to book this package, my TA placed my deposit on my Disney Visa immediately. I wouldn't necessarily bank on a block of those reservations cancelling out for non-payment.

Think they have spread out the free ddp (bounceback, english offer and this free ddp)so this year when it oppens there wont be 2,000 familys trying to checkin to pop(or anywhere its offered) on the day it starts, like last year it went from 50% to 100% ocupancy overnight.Cast member who told us was glad she wasent on that day
