Was wondering how many of you own a Beagle? I have a sweet one. She is 18 months old and a big baby. LOL I mean a baby, cry baby my DH says. My beagle is very very small. she still looks like a puppy. Oh what did I get myself into????

We have a beagle/german shepherd mix dog. He's got the face, ears, tail and every once in a while the bark of a beagle. His coat looks like the german shepheard and he can really sound vicious when barking at someone he's not expecting at the door. He's the most loveable dog - and he was found at the dog shelter!

We have a Beagle, her name is Autumn & she is 9 months old. I have never owned this particular breed (we have a 5yo yellow Lab) but am thrilled we decided to go with a smaller dog for our second. We adopted her at 8 weeks of age & have been amazed at how easy she has been to train :Pinkbounc . I think the only problem we have encountered is teaching her the "come" command, she tends to follow her nose & forget everything else around her . I love her howl when she finds something she has been sniffing for though, too cute! She is black & white, with black dots on her white ears. If I can figure out how, I will try to post her picture!

Me Me! I have a three year old Beagle named Beasley! She's the sweetest thing but won't listen for anything! Annie68, good luck with the "come" command - Beagle's are noses on four legs and will follow a scent as long as they can!

We have a ten year old male Beagle, Barney (although we call him "Beags"). He is my little lover boy...so sweet and loving. We also have a five year old male yellow Labrador, Baxter and Beags' favorite thing to do is lick Baxter's ears, nose, face, feet....he really loves his "brother".

Beags has had epilepsy since he was two, but we're managing it well with medicine. I pray daily for more time with this very special boy. ::yes::

We have two Beagles: Ben, who is 5 and was adopted this time last year from a family in our area who bought a house in a subdivision that didn't allow dogs that play outside:confused:

Then we have Belle, formerly known as Sophie, who is 4 that we adopted the week before Thankgiving in 2003. Belle was an abused Beagle and is scared of her own shadow. Every time we called her Sophie, she would jump, crouch and RUN. So, we changed her name and talk to her in calm voices.

I LOVE our Beagles. Ben is just a happy-go-lucky dog. He's teaching Belle the ways of a good home!! She's coming around!! We call them Lady and the Tramp because of their personalities. If Belle wasn't so scared, she'd definitely have the "I'm better than that" air. And Ben is just a rascal.

They're GREAT dogs, very loving and loyal. But we're stopping at 2--their very distinctive barks can get us in trouble with the neighbors!!!!

I have a 2yo named Mikey Piazza.
You basically have adopted a nose with a dog attached.

Mine is quite the character though. Buy a laser pointer. Beagles and laser pointers are more fun than tv could ever hope to be.

We have a Beagle, Baxter, he's 3. Aside from following his nose he's a really good dog. My kids can do anything they want to this poor dog and he just sits there. He doesn't bark very often but when he does the whole neighborhood hears him. The birds and squirrels in our yard love to tease him. I'm waiting for the day that he goes through a window to get outside to chase them.

Hi,

We own a 9 you beagle boy named Sam.

He is a lover boy too, and like the other posters mention, he is all nose.

He is my constant companion and loves to ride in the car. He is disapointed if he has to stay home!

Ours is named Lilybug. She goes into: NOSE DOWN, TAIL UP, BRAIN GONE mode very easily. Also her Beagle Beller is note worthy. Keep yours away from the road, ours was hit by a car.

I love my precious beagle! She's 5 years old - name is Macintosh but we call her Tosh. She is also a nose attached to a dog and is on the prowl constantly for food. She is very affectionate and loves people. She can be fresh and her listening skills are not always the best.

I have 4 beagles. My Wilma is 14; she's the Queen of the Universe. She's deaf, and she pees a million times a day, but we thank God for every day we have with her. Freddie (Frederica) is 13. She's got a bad heart problem, and we just found out she only has a month or two to live. :( She's on medication, though, and she's doing pretty well, considering. She still has the energy to scam food and try to get into the trash! We're hoping for more time with her than the doctor predicts. We've had her since she was a wee pup, and she's our baby. Lucy is my little girl. We rescued her 3 years ago, and we don't know how old she is - my DH found her running along a country road. She was emaciated, dehydrated, and covered with ticks. She's a doll-baby, but she's afraid of her own shadow. Finally, my Desi (Desiree') is about 4. She, too, was a rescue. She belonged to a hunter who was going to shoot her because she doesn't "run rabbits." She's a sweetie-pie, but she's a piggy, and she's built like an aircraft carrier.

Beagles are the BEST! They have the sweetest souls.
