Last year I brought 4 pairs of shoes...
slip-on sneakers
walking sneakers (in case the slip-ons gave me problems)
flip flops (for the pool and Kali River Rapids)
nice sandals (for a dinner at Cali Grill without the kiddos!)
The four pairs of shoes I brought worked out great and I'll probably do exactly the same thing when we go next month.
Hi there. Well, My family and I just got back from Disney World. We went for 10 days and I brought 5 pairs: 2 tennis shoes and 3 flip flops. Flip Flops were for water parks, dinners, and to let my feet breathe for a few days. Also, if you get blisters from tennis shoes, were more 'roomy' or 'airy' shoes. It helps.
I think I answered the poll 1 to 2, but actually I'd bring 3. Two pairs of walking shoes to switch off in the middle of the day and a pair of sandals for the resort and pool. I just don't do pool shoes. Too ugly.
I am ashamed to admit that I brought 8 pairs with me last fall. 1 Crocs, 1 flip flops for poolside, 3 Birks (all sandals, but different styles), 1 Clark's athletic style sandals, 1 tennis shoes, and 1 nicer dressy sandals.
Didn't wear the tennies at all, only wore 1 of the 3 Birks, wore the flip flops around the pool, wore the dressy sandals once, and practically lived in the Crocs and Clark's.
Next time, I will bring 4 pairs- flip flops, Crocs, Clark's and more Crocs!!
I usually only bring 2 pairs and they are both sandals but my feet were killing me on our May trip and even for like 2 weeks after we came back. This time, I'll be bringing a pair of sneakers, too!

i bring one pair of sneakers (that are definitely broken in), one pair of loafers (i wear them all day every day at work and even bike in in them, so my feet are used to them), and one pair of flip-flops. i have a shoe for every occasion that way (parks, semi-dressy, and pool!). i've debated buying a pair of keen sandals for the parks, (they seemed to be real popular down there when we went) they look real comfy and at least i can wear them if it rains.
For 6 days of in-park fun, I brought one pair of walking shoes, well-worn; one pair of Tevas, which I wore only 2 times, and a pair of flops for the airplane and walking around the hotel room.
Last year for 9 days I took.....ummm.....10 pairs. All flip flops. They are what I am most comfortable in. You know, red tank, you need red flip flops. Black shirt, black flops. This is why I need to start packing weeks ahead of time...
I am with you - I like to change for dinner at a signature restaurant and put on a nice pair of sandals. So for me I would bring cross trainers, casual sandals and nice sandals. My casual sandals are the best, most comfortable pair I own. I can walk in them for hours.
Remember that you might get rained on (I experienced a torrential downpour just before Hurricane Wilma last October) and your shoes might get totally soaked. We were sometimes nearly ankle-deep in rain. It took about two days for my shoes to totally dry out.
I recommend taking at least three pairs of shoes (I wear sneakers). Whatever you decide, though, make sure that all of them are very well broken in. I brought one pair last year, and thought they were well broken in. Wrong! Got a terrible blister before I realized it.
Remember, you can always wash your clothes (so it makes sense to take less of them), but you might be sorry if you don't have enough pairs of comfortable, well-broken-in shoes.
