How many paid for a Lagoon View at the GF, requested and actually got a castle view?

Decided to ditch the Poly concierge. Now we are debating between YC waterview and GF Lagoon view. I was told Lagoon view does not guarantee me a castle view. My question is how many out there paid for a lagoon view and requested a castle view and got it? is it worth it? We are going for a week in Oct. TIA!

I have been fortunate to have had a GF MK view a few times. Is it worth it? Take a look at this photo and tell me: Janet2k's Last Castle View. *Sigh*

stayed at the GF twice, first time got a free upgrade to MK view from garden, second time booked lagoon having been sold on that castle view. My experience is they will try really hard to accomodate you.

Well, I have booked it once, and got it. However, my aunt has stayed Lagoon View 5 times (2 times had a view of the Polynesian, 2 times a view of the Magic Kingdom, and 1 time a view of a group of trees). 1/3 of the lagoon view rooms face the Polynesian, and a little less than 2/3's have the MK view (the other ones have a nice view of trees).

We were very disappointed with GF view. We paid for LV and even though we knew it wasn't guaranteed, since it was the 2nd week of Jan. we thought we'd have a good chance. I faxed the request and confirmed it at check-in. We couldn't see the castle unless we stood up, leaned over the balcony wall, looked way to the left and behind a palm tree.

We didn't complain because I knew it wasn't guaranteed, but I was very disappointed. When I got home and was reading to boards I got upset when I noticed that some DISers' received free upgrades to a castle view for the same week.
