How many others feel the same way about the fact that NOONE can post anything anymore

My "ignore" list has been growing. Three more in the past two weeks. ;)

Obviously, from my number of posts, I spent a long time on the CB before I ever heard of the DB. I probably followed a thread that got bumped from the CB to the DB. My first reaction was utter shock. I could not believe the way people spoke to each other.

I used to go over and lurk, but it always seemed to scary for me, and I would scurry on back to the other boards. The first time I felt motivated enough to post, a couple of regulars wiped the floor with me. It was not pretty.

And, yet, their topics interested me, and I kept lurking. And finally began posting regularly. There are things I did not know about the DB posters for a while...things people on the CB may still not be aware of. These people have been sparring with each other for a long time. Most of them have a grudging respect for each other. And most of them know exactly how to yank the others' chain, and do soon a regular basis. Often what looks like nastiness to the uniniated, is often an inside joke. They are all good people. They just communicate in a way that is not always easily understood.

No one is happy that we all have to live together now. But it is what it is. DBers are no happier about sorting through the topics that do not interest them any more then CBs are. And when the topic is about how the DBs are spoiling everything ( not that this thread is saying that ) it is hard not to bristle. Wouldn't you if it were reversed?

At the end of the day, we all have to make room for each other. Let's do it as gracefully as possible.

What I find funny is that people are so worried about the board, yet start or participate in threads such as this one that are obviously posted simply to get a reaction.

Not everyone here is pink and fluffy. Not everyone here only posts happy nice things. Some people here tell the truth and I respect them for it.

Perfectly written!::yes::

For some reason I had trouble posting to this thread. Weird.

I've been around here for a while and the tone has definitely changed. There are a few people that are quite vicious IMO and then there are some that just tell you what they think which I like. There's a fine line between the two and I try to figure out where they fall quickly so I can steer clear of the bad ones. I have enough issues in RL, I don't need to deal with the cretins out there.

i agree, I can't stand it when someone does not agree with your opinion, or they join a thread midway through without reading the whole thing. They miss personal attacks, but they see the person defending him or herself. Then, they join in with the personal attacks wihout addressing the topic of the thread at all. When they are confronted about it, they continue with the personal attacks, ignore the thread topic, play the martyr & then go to another thread to whine about it. The fact that they disagree with a poster is seen as an excuse to call the poster "rude & ugly". I think the real problem is that they lack the capacity to address the issues, but would rather just attack those they disagree with (although they cannot really explain why). Very unfriendly, & it really should stop. :teeth:

I cannot beleive you are doing this. You know perfectly well that YOU are whom I speaking of. I read the entire thread thank you very much. I never attacked you in any way. Yet you did it to me and others plenty of times. And here you are again. Yet you have the nerve to call that other guy a stalker. I've reported you to a moderator and you know exactly what you can do to yourself.

I apologize to others for having to do this in your thread.

For me, if I'm posting in a debate thread, it's anything goes. I feel most debaters expect this and hopefully, I'm not hurting anyone's feelings. I don't think any of us really want to hurt anyone's feelings. If it's a CB type thread, I just go with the flow of that particular thread. So, if I attack your opinion in a debate thread and I see you a nice pink and fluffy thread 2 minutes later, I won't be holding any grudges and I hope you won't be either.

Even though we have yet to agree on anything , I can absolutely vouch for you on this one.

I never used to come to the CB, since I only used the DIS Boards for information in my areas of interest - DCL, DVC and Resorts. The problem would be enough it was just limited to the CB, but unfortunately it has crept up on other boards as well. God forbid you go to the cruise board and say something negative about a piano player that used to entertain on the Magic or give a negative opinion about a particular resort on that board. This board should be for an open exchange of opinions and expressing those differences is fine as long as you attack the opinoins and not the person.

Just use your ignore list. My suggestion is don't be stubborn and say, "But I shouldn't have to" or "I don't want to", just do it and see what you think about it. If it doesn't work, then don't use it anymore, but it may be some relief for you. :) You want the best DIS experience for YOU, and that may help! Ya never know unless you try!

minniepumpernickel! LOL! I can't imagine it EVER being you! You speak your mind, but you are always courteous about it (unless someone starts with you first of course! ;) ), even try to get the point across with some levity! I love having you around! :wave2: ::MinnieMo :chat: ::yes::

Oh my gosh! Thats the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me on here!:sunny:

I love it when you post on here too. I wish I could meet you and Willy in person someday!:sunny:

This is justification for me to avoid those posts like the plague. I've seen debates in college and some tv debates and it is NOT 'anything goes'. I'm not telling you or anyone to debate according to the rules of debating, but that because so many feel the 'anything goes' policy is okay, I don't want to be a part.

I've read that many people just feel they are telling the truth. Since when is truth and fact the same thing?

I haven't been around the CB long enough to know how it used to be or to recognize the 'instigators' by name but I know when a post is mean. I just skim and keep going.

The thing I'd like to learn how to do is "ignore" -- not use the "ignore feature". If someone says something nasty, I'm just going to try to pretend I didn't hear it. Getting nasty back doesn't help much!

I think this will be part of my "Be the change you want to see in the world" era!:D

Everyone says about what a community the CB is and how everyone is wonderful but I gotta tell ya that friends who let you think that the pee on your leg is rain are not friends.

There are times when this happens, but I really don't know why it bothers people so much. Sometimes people are just having a little "love fest" that has little to do with reality, but what the heck? I get more turned off by the people who feel the need to step in and tell people how stupid they are being. I'm not sure that's alot of help, either.

Hiya Sweetiepie!

I had no idea you were talking about me!:p

let's set the record straight:

Whe I said that people should pick up another job if they couldn't make ends meet, you said:
And it sounds like you might need some compassion. But, hey I'm not going to pass value judgements on you.

a direct personal attack.
I replied:
You can judge me all you want. I'm not ashamed of my opinion or your impression of it. As for compassion, I have plenty. I also have little tolerance for governmental handouts. Let private charities tdo the job. Cut our taxes, end social programs. People will give more to charity, & they can do what our government was never designed to do. I've been flat broke & without a home before...never went on the public dole...picked myself up & got back at it. I am not your responsibility to feed, clothe, or provide medicine & doctors. Nor are you mine.

..addressing the issues.hmmm...don't see any attacks from me yet...it just gets curiouser & curiouser...

your next attack...err post was:
Why are you even allowed to post? Your getting your jollies from pestering other posters.

I, in turn responded:
Responding to questions & attacks, poohbear.
Now move along, you're ill equipped to start anything with me, although you're trying.

Ahh..I fire a warning shot accros your bow in order to get you to stop.

Your eloquent response was:

Your not worth my time or energy wdwdvcdad

Now, with feelings hurt & a tear in my eye, I followed with:

Witty retort. Obviously I was right. (& it's "you're")

Since, of course, you proved my point.\

I never attacked you, but you sure went after me (but in a really lame fashion).

As for the stalker comment, ThreeCircles & I have been sharing barbs for quite a while. It had nothing to do with you and went way over your head. Something tells me it is not uncommon.

As for the "I'm telling on you" stuff...gimme a break & grow up.

allow me to pass along a trick that I, unfortunately, do not use often enough any more. Go ahead and reply. Type away furiously. Preview. Refine. Preview. Until you have completely vented. Then get up and walk around the room before hitting "submit". Then, do not submit, just close the page and move on. It really does feel good to just let it go.

Be very careful not to get so worked up that you hit submit instead of preview....I have also done that on occasion, and since the delete no longer works, you are stuck.

Aww...bless your heart, EsmeraldaX, for bringing a little humor to yet another heated situation!

It's the personal attacks that touble me - and the twisting of words from something innocent to something hateful.

I thought it was just me when I posted a thread. I just chose to ignore the first couple of bashing posts, then very nice Dis's swooped on in and posted very nice things that you would expect.

I wish these 3 people would also go away, it just seemed so ironic that it came in (3)'s, then it is done.
