How many others feel the same way about the fact that NOONE can post anything anymore

I know what you mean. I made the mistake of getting involved in a thread that has one particular person being extremely rude and ugly. I have bitten my tongue trying not to be nasty right back. I have no desire to be banned.

It makes you want to go away and not come back.

There is a simple solution....re-start The Debate Board and get all those scoundrels back where they belong. ;)

I'm talking about people who actually drag stuff out of one thread and bring it into another where it has no place.

I guess I'm guilty of this with a certain DISer who gets engaged as often as I buy shoes.

But sorry, when you say one week that you are "concentrating on your schooling and kids" and two weeks later you move cross country to live with a man you just met(probably without your kids)...I think it's OK to reference another post. Just my opinion.

I agree that there are some people who just seem to like being nasty. But quite frankly, most of the time I see people get worked up about a "nasty" poster, it is more because they don't like what that poster is saying. And then it degenerates into the name calling and personal attacks.

If getting advice or answers to your question/vent is worth the risk, then just skim past the posts you don't like. These posters don't know you; don't give them the power to hurt you. I don't care if someone on an internet board thinks I'm an idiot any more than I would care if someone I passed on the street thought I was. Bottom line is, the opinions of the people I care about are important to me; the rest are just details.

I know exactly what you're talking about! I went to a fast-food restaurant awhile back and the place was practically empty and I happened to notice a couple sit down at a large table for 6. Since I was by myself I noticed it, if someone else was with me I probably wouldn't have. I pondered about it, then thought it might be something interesting to discuss on the Dis board so I posted my opinion and asked for other people's opinions and several posters really "let me have it", or practically called me stupid for even caring about it, like I shouldn't have "wasted their time" for posting such nonsense!! It really hurt that some people got so nasty to me about it.

Then, there was someone who posted asking how people voted in the presidential elections and a few people were really rude to her. I felt bad for her. :(

It's hard to even want to post anything when a few get so mean and nasty in their replies.

Great post! ITA!

I agree with Maleficent. Most of the time, the "nastiness" people are complaining about is either the truth or someone's real opinion.

Also, if you don't like people reminding you about you've posted in another thread then maybe you should think twice the next time you are posting.

Everyone says about what a community the CB is and how everyone is wonderful but I gotta tell ya that friends who let you think that the pee on your leg is rain are not friends.

*sigh* sometimes I do miss the DB.

.....just LOVE that they can get your panties in a bunch!! They live for it. That's why they do it. They have no interest in "getting along" with people here. They probably have no interest in Disney either!!! When someone responds to one of my posts with an instigating "flavor",I totally ignore that poster like they aren't there. No acknowledgement whatsoever!!! Try not to get sensitive about it,there's plenty of nice people here too!!!

i agree, I can't stand it when someone does not agree with your opinion, or they join a thread midway through without reading the whole thing. They miss personal attacks, but they see the person defending him or herself. Then, they join in with the personal attacks wihout addressing the topic of the thread at all. When they are confronted about it, they continue with the personal attacks, ignore the thread topic, play the martyr & then go to another thread to whine about it. The fact that they disagree with a poster is seen as an excuse to call the poster "rude & ugly". I think the real problem is that they lack the capacity to address the issues, but would rather just attack those they disagree with (although they cannot really explain why). Very unfriendly, & it really should stop. :teeth:

In general, I ignore the ones that I now are ususlly nasty. I kind of think of them as pathetic souls who have no life OR as cowards who can be really brave on an Internet message board because they know they can't really get "caught". They are probably woosies in real life, and here is the only place where they can have some...backbone...Anonymity is a wonderful thing!

I think the tone of the CB has changed somewhat since the DB closed. I've said it before and I'll say it again...I see no point in closing one board because it no longer worked and allowing all the same type of stuff to be posted on another board. But I don't own the site, so what does my opinion matter?:confused3

I generally stay away from political discussions because I don't think they serve a useful purpose other than allowing the posters to call each other names.

I find myself spending a lot more time on the DVC board lately!!!!

After much research and deductive reasoning, I have determined the identity of the 3!...

Then again, it could be these guys...

Note: this is in no way intended as a comment on the OP's post. Its just an attempt to bring a little humor to the thread.

What I find funny is that people are so worried about the board, yet start or participate in threads such as this one that are obviously posted simply to get a reaction.

Not everyone here is pink and fluffy. Not everyone here only posts happy nice things. Some people here tell the truth and I respect them for it.

Thank you. I sincerely appreciate it!

I've been on the CB since its inception, and there have ALWAYS been people who like to pick fights. And when I say "pick fights" I mean just that -- I am NOT talking about people who like to debate issues.

Its an odd phenomenon when you really think about it -- why people sort of wait in the wings waiting to jump all over certain posters I'm not clear on. It does seem to happen all over cyberspace though. I was just on a travel bulletin board the other day and there was one guy in particular....... to say he was lacking in "netiquette" would be putting it mildly.

What I do when I find myself getting drawn in by those who like to pick fights is walk away from the PC. Its amazing the amount of perspective we find when we walk away from this "world" into the real one. :) I suggest anyone feeling slighted do the same thing.

I don't post that much but I do think things are more stressed at home, work, boards, etc...With the election coming up and terror threats in the back of everyone's mind I just take everything with a grain of salt.

I say it is a sign of the times unfortunately...:(

I hope you're not referring to me. While I truly try not to participate in name calling, I do participate in debates. Some of them get a little more heated than others, but while I can disagree with what is posted, I always respect the person I disagree with, even if I don't state it in every response. I'll defend my co-debaters to the end! I think at times if someone's opinion is attacked, some people feel offended that they were attacked personally. I also wanted to say, I have seen several people who have said they don't like the debaters here on the CB participating in debate threads too. I find it very offensive that these posters think it's okay to attack on threads like this one, but they're doing the exact same thing as the people they're pointing the finger at. This is a little hypocritical to me.
