How Many of You Watch Little or No TV?

Compared to most teens, I don't watch much. I have one show a week that I watch (Buffy.) Generally the only other TV I watch is CNN or MTV, occasionally. During the school year I usually am busy doing other things.

I gave up cable TV six years ago. Five years ago I stopped watching network TV. Weaned myself slowly, lol :). Becomming a parent is what triggered the change. I love to read and have gone through so many books over the last 6 years. I discovered the internet just one year ago and am trying to keep that under control :p now. I want my kids to grow up being active and I have to be the example if I want that to happen. Walked all over the zoo today. Once I get those kids tucked in bed it's staight to the 'puter though

I don't feel that I watch "a lot" of TV, but do have my favorites like "Amazing Race" and "Survivor" especially. Monday night are my comedy shows on CBS: King of Queens, Yes Dear, Everybody Loves Raymond and Still Standing. I used to love Becker too when it was on Monday nights but they moved it to Sunday night and we're rarely home then so don't get to see it. Love CSI Miami on Monday nights too, then there's CSI and ER on Thursday night....and I do watch one soapie during the day "The Young and The Restless"....sometimes the morning shows on CBS or NBC, occasionally Montel Williams and Regis and Kelly.....hmmmm, maybe I watch more than I think I do..... :D

I rarely, if ever watch TV. Party for Kama's reasons...can't figure out how to work the stupid remotes. Furthermore, there's not really anything on I'm particularly interesterd in. I do enjoy some of the daytime shows - Regis and Kelly and the View, but other than that, I'd rather watch a movie, play a game, dis, or read a book.

I watch morning local news and a bit of the Today show. DH and I watch Southpark.
At night I like the Daily Show. I also will tune into HBO comedy or Comedy channel's stand-up. I also love Dennis Miller.
DH like to watch his (here is my assessment of it) "History of the Nail" shows, ;) . Oh and the "Speed" channel.
As far as those sit coms and reality shows..nope don't watch them. I can't even get into Oprah anymore.
Just give me my news and comedy so I am balanced out!!! ;)

Kids have cut back alot. 11yo dd is hooked on Dragonball Z. Other than that they will watch tune into various shows when they have some free time but that is not often because there is always something else/better to do.

I guess it depends on what you call watching TV.

I watch Gilmore Girls, West Wing and This Old House every week. Otherwise, not much else. DD watches Liberty's Kids every morning and occasionally we catch Lizzie Maguire or Proud Family.

Mostly when the TV is on we are watching a movie that we've rented from the video store. We have movie night twice a week.

When DD's dad was still living with us the TV was on all the time. One big change in our house, as DD has noted, is how quiet things are without the TV on. It's much more relaxing without that constant noise.

I love TV, but I try not to have it on too much with the little ones. They are allowed to watch some TV, but we also have special time everyday to do art and crafts, reading etc., usually in the mid to late afternoon. But as soon as they go to bed, the TV is back on, I think I like it as backround noise as much as I like watching it.

Hi,

Not much of a tv watcher now. I used to watch quite a bit when the kids were little.

Now, I'll watch Raymond, ER, Frasier, and occassional tennis match. That's about it.

Herc.

I watch tv less than once a week. I average about once every two weeks but sometimes I will go two months or so without ever being near a tv. I used to watch way too much of it so I cut it out of my life. For me it's the best decision ever, I get much more of my scrapbooking done and dh, dd and I spend a lot more quality time together than other families. Or did, now dh and I spend a lot of time together but dd is often gone doing her own thing now. ...Sniff...sometimes I miss her a lot but she's growing up and I'm happy with the young woman she's becoming.
