Just wondering how many people would phone up each day @ the 11months to book a holiday over teh christmas / new Year period?

Ps I hope this works as Ive never done a poll before

I did this for our stay last week at VWL. On the first day, I asked MS if they thought this was a good idea and I remember the lady laughing and saying..."Oh yeah".

I book all my reservations one day at a time better to be safe then waitlisted.

I always call day by day fo a holiday, and for CERTAIN Christmas is a day by day booking scenario. This would especially be true if you were trying to book a standard view BWV anything or a GV.

I've never booked day by day even at the 7 month window.

If it comes down to where I have to do that I'll sell the remainder of my points. Time is money and I won't spend 6 days on the phone with MS to get a 6 day ressie. At 11 months is isn't needed to begin with.

I will qualify this by saying I have never visited during Christams and I never will.

I've had great success at 7 months by the way, never been denied.

Disagree. We have visited WDW for 4 of the last five Christmas/New Year's periods. I learned my lesson the first year when I didn't call day by day and couldn't get a standard 2BR at the BWV for New Year's Eve. Even though I waitlisted for 11 months, it never came through. Since then I always call day by day and get exactly what we want.

Calling day by day isn't necessary for all of the resorts and/or all of the room types but if you've got the time, why not? It's not a big deal and then you don't have to worry.

I book day by day for most of my trips. But I almost always stay at BWV and stay in boardwalk or standard view rooms. It is a pain, but better safe than sorry!

I'm in the middle of calling day by day for our early Dec at VWL. After the first call and all the info I think it takes about 2 minutes to add another day. And it's toll free so no big hassle. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I'm in the middle of Dec 1 to 7 for BWV boardwalk view studio. I called on Tuesday for the night of 12/1 around 2:00pm, the cm said he would advise calling in earlier in the day because there were not many left. Yesterday and today I called right at 9:00 and got through quick.

Day by day phoning for DVC peak time reservations is probably the single best tip I've learned on these boards.

I've called Day by day for every trip I've planned at the 11 month window. Only trips where I decided to go after the 11 month window did I not!

Wow. I am really suprised. I thought that was the home field advantage....to not have to call day by day. Now I am worried. Although our next booking is for a 2 bdr at SSR the 1st week in December. I can book the whole thing if I call Monday morning. At this point I might as well wait until Monday. I can't imagine I will get locked out of SSR.

I think you'll be fine at SSR. Keep in mind that my comments were about Christmas week at the smallest DVC resort.

I have for been visiting at Christmas for the past 6 years, never called day-by-day, and always got what I wanted. This year, when I tried to reserve a room, I had to waitlist for one night(Dec 20th, a Wednesday, can you imagine that?!), which I never got after an 11 month waitlist. So, next year I am going to book day-by-day for sure, since I want a GV this time.:scared1:

Finished my day by day this morning for 12/1 to 12/7. The only day I had a wait was Saturday. It went much easier than in previous years.

I'm glad you pointed that out because while you see the "book day by day" as the best advice given here on the Dis, I completely disagree.

There are only a handfull of times/rooms/categories where this is necessary. BWV standard view or BW view would be one example. GV's another. BC at VB another. Christmas another.

People hearing this stuff they will start booking day by day. This drains MS resources and could in the end lead to increased dues.

Calling day by day is not necessary for 90%+ of the booking out there with DVC. To tell people otherwise is simply false.

39 or so trips and I've never called day by day. Was I just lucky? Don't think so. How many times are resorts selling out before 7 months? Unless you fall into one of the above categories it IS NOT necessary.

We wonder why phone lines are tied up at MS.:sad2: A 5 night stay should take one call not 5 and it does for a vast majority of people who don't post here on the Dis. They've never heard of day by day booking and haven't needed it.

Would you say the same about a 2-BR at OKW at the 11 month window for a stay during Christmas week? I wasn't going to call day-by-day, but will if I have to do so for a full week.
