How many of you buy clothes for the kids but won't let them wear them until Disney?

Just wanted to see if there are other neurotics out there like me.

Every year I buy the kids a ton of new clothes, even underwear, socks and bows, that I won't let them wear until vacation.

Right now we have closets full of clothes with the tags still on that will go directly into the ziploc bags. I justify it by saying that the kids are so messy that they'll spill something on them before Disney.

Are any of you other Dissers this crazy or am I alone with this bizarre tradition.

The funniest thing is that the kids are so used to it that they don't even question whether or not they can wear their "Disney" clothes!

I do it!! ;) My oldest has a new bathing suit that she convinced me to let her wear to her Grandparents house to swim in. I should have known better. It came home with pizza sauce on it, so I will have to wash it before we leave (on WEDNESDAY :cheer2:  ).

Let's start a club--The Self Proclaimed Clothing Neurotics! I usually do this however, this year I am turning over a new leaf. My kids usually get all new clothes for our vacations (which we normally take over the summer). This year we will be going in Oct. so I cannot get myself to hoard clothes away for one week (they will be useless to us when we get back because we live in WI).

Last year was the 1st trip with the boys, and we're going again in JAN/FEB 07. I DID buy a few outfits last year specifically for WDW. Glad I'm not alone in this. :teeth: I'm going to do the same thing this year as well. I like them to have a few outfits that look really cute for pics. Sad, but I think more about their clothing than my own now.

We also are clothing hoarders. I, too, have clothes that I do not let them wear before vacation. Our children don't seem to mind and they enjoy the new clothes while at WDW or on the DCL.

i do this with pj's. i look for themed one's depending on where we are going to. when we went to wdw last november i hit a sale on dis.com and got some incredibles and power rangers ones for ds, and i found some tink and eeyore for dd at walmart. all were packed and they did'nt see them until we arrived at wdw.

i tend to take existing stuff that is wearable but on it's last legs for vacations-esp if we are going say at the end of summer or fall and i know they will not be wearable for much longer. that way i can toss the stuff when we leave and have more room in the suitcases (i always budget for school clothes on these vacations, and let the kids pick a few clothing items to bring back as part of their normal school wardrobe).

We go every year in Sept., not good because I always end up buying all the summer clearence clothes and save them for our trip. Kids go to year round school so I start buying school "outfits" in June when not on sale. So I end up buying a whole year of cute summer clothes withen 2 months!! Then I have to start buying winter clothes. I need therapy...

You may include me in "THE SELF PROCLAIMED CLOTHING NEUROTIC CLUB.
I hear nominate myself "Clearence Finder".

I usually buy one dressy outfit for our picture at our big character breakfast/dinner. Also, I'll buy new sandals but let them wear them in the house to break them in. This is novel because we don't wear shoes in the house.

Add me to the list. :cool1:

I took my son shopping last week to get summer clothes.

As soon as the stores put their summer stuff on clearance, I'll start shopping for our Labor Day and spring break trips.

Oh, I always buy new sneakers for our trips as well. :dance3:

Oh I do this too!

I know that if I let my daughter wear her new clothes then they will get messed up!

However, this year I am trying something new. I am letting her wear the new clothes, but only off shopping or something where I know she will not be eating and mess them up. :thumbsup2 So far... so good!

I do this with any special shirts or whatever that I get for the trip. My kids have so many Disney clothes that I just pack a suitcase full of their normal stuff. However, we have a familiy shirt every year and I don't let anyone wear the shirts I either buy the previous year or order until vacations.

I do this, too. And I match outfits for the events. For example, ds is wearing a Stitch shirt and dd is wearing a Lilo shirt when we eat breakfast at Ohanas. When we go to the MK, they are sure to wear Mickey shirts, unless we're eating at CP and then it's a Pooh shirt for dd. Dd has a Nemo shirt for Epcot and ds has a Simba shirt for AK.

I just bought myself a Pooh shirt for CP in September. The tags will stay on until I pack.

I think about Disney clothes way too much. :teeth:

:rotfl: I have special "adventurer" clothing for the boys when we go to AK in JAN and I already bought them each a stuffed Simba (on sale!) to carry around as well. I'm also going to make them matching Mickey shirts with their names on them for MK & they'll have stuffed Mickeys (also on sale) to carry there as well! I just can't help myself. (so glad I'm not the only one :rolleyes1 )

Oh good, I'm not the only "matcher" either. I have special shirts for the kids to wear to Ohana breakfast, Crystal Palace breakfast, EPCOT, etc. Of course the girls have their costumes for the princess meals but I also have Minnie dresses and a Mickey costume for the kids to wear to CHef Mickeys. Its a tradition for us to buy the picture from CHef Mickeys every year with the kids in their costumes and we buy the Ohana picture every year too. I have all the magnets from these picture packages on my frig and its fun to see how they've grown from year to year.

Fellow clothes hoarders - unite and be proud. You are not alone!

We are not going until December, but I bought the disney store T shirts on sale for not only DS and DD but also for DH and myself. One for each day that we will be in the park. They are all hanging in my closet waiting to be packed in DEC.

We are leaving Dec 27 so I plan to hit the disney store Dec 26 for sweatshirts for each of us.

Glad to hear that I'm not alone in matching shirts with events! :goodvibes

I found a Lady & the Tramp t-shirt at Wal-Mart for dd. We are staying at Pop, so that'll be good for any day of the trip. Even if we're not in the 50s section, I plan to take her picture with Lady. (I'm secretly hoping for the 70s section because of the location and I don't need to be smack on top of a pool).

If you don't live near a Disney Store, check out the girls t-shirts at your local Wal-Mart. They had some Tink and Bambi shirts in addition to the Lady and the Tramp shirts.

I always buy some new outfits for Disney. We are going in August and I have bags of new clothes in my bedroom. I work pt at The Childrens Place and always spend my checks. My poor husband thinks I'm working to work but I'm really working to SHOP.
