how many of you are members when it was still The Vacation Club and who was the first

We joined in July of 93 and have loved every minute of it. Miss those free passes! I think the price was in the low to mid 50's.

We spent our first night on points at DVC May 21, 1992, and joined the next morning. Of course, we were supposed to join before we spent the night, but my flight was delayed, and DW and our guide fixed it up before I arrived. Our first taste of DVC magic, even before we joined :)

We paid $51 per point. Our contract number is between 2000 and 2100, and our member number is between 2600 and 2700.

My contract number is between 21 and 22 and my member number is between 1420 and 1425. That is assuming that you take the first 4 numbers and the last 4 numbers to use.

We were idiots. Visited in 1993 and went on "the tour." The little gift we got was a family portrait of us superimposed in a hot air balloon over OKW. I remember thinking the place was gorgeous, but I was not the one with the cash -- my parents were. My Mom could not get past all the money and the fact that in year 2000, the free tix would stop.

So we visited again in 2002 and my parents bought a ton of points, with NO free tickets, for so much more money. Smart, huh? Live and learn.

We joined in February, 1992 and have an April use year. We paid in the low $50s/point. The bridge past HH wasn't open yet, the bus stopped at HH and the second pool wasn't open. You could see some of the construction across the golf course from Commodore House.
One part of the presentation that impressed me was that there was no 'tour' of the resort because they did not want to disturb the guests who were staying there. We got the 'balloon photo' and lovely ice cream sundaes. And they were kind enough to send us the all the background information required by NYS by mail because it wouldn't fit in our luggage!
By chance we were at VB the day of the 'hard opening'. We spent 2 nights at VB. We watched all the 'opening day' hoopla and then drove to WDW for the rest of our stay in time to see them changing the signs from DVC to OKW! That was a treat!
During our stay last March we went to see the BCV models and meet our current guide. I don't know how the member/contract numbers come up on the computer but ours showed up as a single digit! That made us quite the celebrities for a while. I don't know how peopl figure out their numbers from the mebership card. I know that we have 2 contracts from our original purchase and one add on.
No matter DVC is the best thing that I ever joined!

I joined in July 1992 thanks to Gail Hayden and some really smart cookies on the Prodigy boards. They thoroughly thrashed out all the details and I've been enjoying the results ever since. I can't thank them enough.

Ah the old Prodigy boards, I remember them well, including Clarry Trice.

We joined in December 91 and we remember the Commadore House, the ice cream and cookies! We made our first visit in January 92, and had a member get together outside Olivia's, they had wine and shrimp for snacks, I knew that wouldn't last long! One of the best investments we ever made!!!!

OKW91, we also joined in 12/91.

I remember the member get togethers with conch fritters and wine. Ahh..............

I guess the party menu has to change when there are 60,000 people invited.;) ;)

FRAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, how nice to see you here. I remember you well. How are you? How is Bobby?
Welcome to the DIS.

I also remember the member receptions outside of Olivia's, before they enclosed the herb garden, etc. About 30 members were there, beer (Corona included), wine, wonderful food, it was nice.
Still don't remember the colored towels, though. :(

SGT. Disney,
Who were you on the Prodigy board. I remember almost everyone from those days.

Gail, it has been so long. I have used this handle for about as long as I can remember... When I first came here to DIS I thought I recognized your name....

Joined in 1993 after reading about DVC on the old Prodigy boards. Made an appointment for tour our second day there. Told my husband there was rain in the forecast that afternoon so we might as well check it out. And, on the way there, of course I agreed with him that we wouldn't sign anything that day (ha, ha). Two hours later he said his hand was cramped from signing so many documents! About an hour after that, we were walking into our new two-bedroom home and haven't looked back since!

May 1993 -- went to take a look at what the rich folk were buying. Was drugged by a hot fudge sundae and had the papers sent to me when I returned home. Some of the most special moments of my life have already been spent at DVC.

We're all fine here. Glad to see you're as wild as ever. (I believe Bob ended up with one of those nice pinky-beigy towels, though.) Do you still pack a lot of socks?

Fran
