I'm thinking about getting the USB camera connector to upload pictures directly from my camera to my phone or iPad. Anyone do this? Does it work out well? If you do, what apps do you use to upload your pics from your camera?

I do, but I just use it to view pics. I really don't use my tablet for storage.

FWIW, the iPod camera connection kit does not work with an iphone (unless you go with the jailbreaking route)

My camera has built in Wifi and I occasionally use that to quickly post a real picture from my phone, (An EyeFi card can give most cameras that functionality)

I don't have an iPod. I'm getting the lightening connection kit so hopefully it works for both my phone and iPad. It's more to upload pics quickly to email them or post them without having to be home to go into my computer.

I have the lightning SD card reader and it works great with my iPad. Definitely worth the $30. It only does photos, though. No video. Works great to upload great vacation pics from my camera instead of just posting phone pics. Lets me leave the laptop at home. :thumbsup2

What app do you use to upload your pics? Or do they just go straight to your photos app that the iPad camera uses?

When you plug it in with the card, you select the photos you want to upload and they go straight to your iPad photos. After they upload, it will ask you if you want to keep your photos on your card. I always keep them so I can back them up at home later.

Great! Thanks! Trying to decide if I should get the reader or the just direct USB connection. With the lightening connection it doesn't come joint anymore. At least not from apple.

Sorry, I meant iPad

Apples site only lists the Lightning to USB Camera Adaptor as compatible with some iPads The iphone is not compatible with the adaptor as far as I can tell.

If it's the same connection I wonder why it's not compatible? Both of my devices use the lightening connection. Interesting.

Yes, its weird.
It seems every time someone asks Apple (in the questions section) if its possible, they say no.

I use the lightning USB, I put my memory card in a card reader then put the lightning into the iPad. Works well. I ended up with the USB rather than the lightning SD thinking the iPad could read other usb devices like an external hard drive or using a blank memory card, it does not:(
My phone uses the older connection so I couldn't tell you if they work on the iphone. The wider SD connector does work on an iPod, I had one a few years back for an older iPod.

I don't. My photos and videos that I take with my Nikon cameras or my smart phone go straight into my second desktop computer.

I use the wifi from my 6D to send things to my phone or iPad. I have the camera kit but it's only used by DH to connect his guitar via a midi cable to the iPad.
