How many of us were fertile right off of the bat??(inspired by negative test thread)

It took over a year and a half to get pregnant with DD#1. Had to do the fertility drugs. Then she was born 3 months premature. So, we decided after that to adopt. I was actually on the pill for about three months after DD#1 was born, then decided that I can't get pregnant anyway, and I quit taking it. When DD#1 was about 1 1/2 we decided to go ahead and adopt. We went through all of the paperwork. We had the homestudies, etc. then I found out I was pregnant. DD#2 was full-term weighing 8 pounds. HUGE difference in pregnancies.

My sister wants to start a family. She's 25. My mom had endometriosis (sp?) when she was 29 or 30 and had to have a complete hysterectomy (sp?) So, I told my sister with my history and my mom's history she shouldn't wait too long to start. This was in January. She talked to her DH about it, and they decided to try. Once. That's all it took. She is due in October along with my other sister who I believe just drank a glass of water and got pregnant.

After I got pregnant with DD#2 (due in about 6 weeks), my mom starting calling DH and I Fertile Myrtle and Potent Pete!

We had a very easy time getting pregnant with both girls. The first time, we decided we weren't really going to "try" but we would simply stop using any BC and wing it for a while. I got pregant within a couple of months. With DD#2, I got pregnant the first time that we hadn't used BC since having DD#1! About a week after a got pregnant, I told DH I thought I might be pregnant. He didn't believe me - "It wouldn't happen that fast." (Uh, do you remember how quick it was with DD#!?) So, the day my monthly "visitor" was due (sorry if TMI) I took a test, and lo and behold, I was right!

A bit off topic, but you guys should all appreciate this, as Disney fans. My mom is taking my 8 year old Niece to WDW in December. Before I got pregnant, I was thinking of joining them, and bringing DH's 9 year old niece with me. Well, when I found out I was pregnant, I called my mom to tell her the news, and the first thing out of her mouth was "Oh, now you're not going to be able to go to Disney with us!"

Definitely a "fertile myrtle". 7 Kids! The funniest thing is that after I had the first four I thought I was done. I was diagnosed with cancer when I was 37 and underwent a year of chemo which supposedly would make me go through early menopause. SURPRISE, 6 months after being off chemo I found out I was pregnant. So at 39, I had another baby. There was 12 years between the 4th and 5th child so we had the last two so she wouldn't be raised as an only child. Never ever would have planned on having kids so late in life, but it really has been something else to have our "miracle" baby. The last one of the older group goes off to college this year so I guess I would have been feeling the empty nest syndrome pretty hard if I hadn't had the little ones.

Got pregnant the first time both times. And never pregnant when we weren't trying.

While carrying DS (child #2) I was convinced I was going to lose him, since everyone we knew had either miscarried or had terrible trouble conceiving.

MIL has 6 children (lost 2 or 3), and says that she has 5 living children who are proof that every form of birth control has a failure rate!

I have never tried to get pregnant. With both of my DS's we knew we knew the risks we were taking and were comfortabe with them. In both cases we were "counting days"--you can see how well that worked for us;)

We were talking the other day how different our lives would be right now if we would have stuck to our original plan of waiting 5 years to have kids (our 5 year anniversary is next March).

It makes me soooooo sad how difficult it is for others to become pregnant. Hugs, prayers and PD to all that are trying!!
