We did last summer...with 5 at SSR and 3 at BWV. It was kind of a pain to move but it was neat to try another resort. In Nov. we stayed 8 days at SSR. I was thinking of maybe doing a split stay at BCV and OKW in mid/late July.

We always seem to split stays now. A 4 night Epcot/Studios vacation and a 4 night MK vacation. We like the variety, and having the convenience of having the parks so close by when we want to go. I'll tell you, it can be hard being at WDW for 3 days before you set foot in the MK.

for our next 2 stays, we will do 5 nights split as 3/2. We are (soon to be) new members and our kids like trying out new places/pools. We pack light. As our kids get older (and have more "stuff"), we will most likely stay put---but for now, we "DVC hop" to try out all the DVCs to find our favorite!

Do you stay at WLV for the MK portion? Do you go to MK 4 times?

We like to split the stay too 3 days at WLV and 3 days at BCV. A bit inconvenient having to pack up twice but worth it.

This is what we usually do. We like VWL for MK (boat), and AKL (easy car access), and stay at BCV or BWV for Epcot and the Studios. Works out really well.
Since we ALWAYS get a car (don't like the busses, can you tell),:rolleyes1
the move is easy. We just leave our stuff in the car while we go to a park on the move day.
Another advantage is clean towels, clean room.

We are trying our fist and second split stay on two of our next 3 trips.
First in March we are doing 3 nites at AKV then 5 at BCV.
Second in October is a strait 5 nites at BCV.
Third is a bit different. the whole stay is at VWL in Nov. 5days in studio and 5 days in 1br.
Does anyone else do this??????? If so please let me know what you have done.

Two split stays coming up for us. Well, actually we are staying at AKV concierge studio for 2 nights and the switching to a 1br concierge at AKV. That is the April trip . Then in June, we originally had value rooms at AKV booked but at 7 months I switched to 2 night in a 1br at BWV with std view and then 3 nights in a studio with a Boardwalk view. That will leave only BCV, SSR, and VWL to try out at WDW.

we sorta split....in May we will split our stay between Vero and SSR for the
second time

No desire to split a stay. Personally, I don't get the whole closer to *insert park name* thing. DH and I don't want to be bothered checking in more once unless it's absolutely necessary. However, everyone is different and if it makes you happy to spend your vacation at 2 (or more) resorts, then go for it!

We do it often. One twist is that we usually split our stay with a cash reservation on the weekend. We travel to WDW on average 5 times each year.

When we split our stay it usually is something like:
DVC - 5 nights - Sun to Thursday
Deluxe - 2 nights - Fri & Sat
DVC - 5 nights - Sun to Thursday

Our first ever DVC stay was this past Aug. We stayed at SSR first our home resort for 5 nights in a 2br. Then we moved to BWV and was there in a 2br for 3 nights. Then in Nov. we stayed put at SSR for 8 nights.

Two Nov. ago we did a split between SOG and CSR. This was the first time splitting.

So for splits stays...how do you transfer from one place to the other. We've done two split stays and had a car for one and called a taxi for the other. We normally fly now and don't rent a car and the taxi was a pain. It'd be nice to call the bellhop give him your luggage head for the parks from one resort and return to the new one at the end of the day.

Will Disney move your junk for you??

Yes. Bell Services will move your junk for you. It's pretty easy.
We have split stays many times (that's why I have so many hotels listed). The last two trips we didn't split because we got tired of packing and moving. We will probably split at Christmas. We usually split between MK and Epcot.

Yes it is a free transfer for your luggage/groceries. YOu just have to take WDW transportation and that too is FREE. YOu just tell them where you are transferring to and it will be done for you.

For the first few years after we first joined DVC, I did split stays alot-stay one night at a DVC resort I hadn't tried, then the rest of the time at my first love, BCV. Now, the only time I split stays is if I can't get all the nights at BCV.

We did split stay last year and will do the same again this year, not so many changes this time though;)
We did 4 night @ VWL, 6 night @ BWV & 3 night @ SSR. We were there for 3 weeks and I wanted to try as many resorts as I could, we also fitted in a few nights offsite, a disney cruise and a couple of night at the HRH:)

Good Lord!

Now a Question about splitting a stay, do you move your own stuff? When we go from AKV to BCV am I being smart by taking my luggage with me when we go check in at the 2nd hotel? I need a cab anyway so I might as well as for a van and get it over with? Just in case they have a room ready at check in?!?What do you guys do?

We have never (intentionally) split a stay. We like to unpack and stay put for the duration. Just us though.:)

We do split stays all the time, although DW is telling me she wants sto "stay put" in one room the whole trip.
