How many nights in Hilton Head late April 2026?

Hello,

We (me 37, DW 39 and 3 year old) are planning a trip for next April to Charleston and HHI. We've never been to either and were thinking on staying 2 nights in Charleston, 4 nights in HHI and then fly back from Savannah. I already booked HHI from 4/20-4/25 in a 1BR (booked an extra day for flexibility). For those knowledgeable of the area and HHI is this a good time to visit or still too cold? Also, is 4 nights with a 3 year old too much time at HHI? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

PS. We are very flexible and have never been to vero beach either.

I can't say how a 3 yo would respond, but DH and I have stayed 11 days in one stay, and wouldn't have felt ready to go home except that we wanted to see our cats. But we couldn't have missed them too much, since our next stay will be 12 days. I gotta say, though, that based on how our 3 yo DGD is, she couldn't watch for dolphins and rays for 2 hours....more like 2 minutes.

It starts to warm up around April-May down there. You’re not too early…

When we were in Hilton Head during the time you're planning on, although we avoid the pool unless it's REALLY warm out, we were in the pool.

It’s warm enough for outdoor activities. Depending on where you live, the water is probably too cold to enjoy swimming in the ocean. Our youngest has been going to HHI annually since he was 2 and 4 nights has never been a problem. However, we always go over July 4th and spend much of the time at the beach and pool. Due to the likely lack of ocean time, I’d probably do 3 nights in Charleston and then 3 nights in HHI. Hope that helps.

4 nights at dhhir with a 3 year old in a 1 bedroom sounds like a great vacation!
We have dd4 and she loves going to hhi.
She especially likes all the different parks to play at on the island plus the resort.
